So I bought this on a whim as a last ditch attempt to fix a 2007 jeep diesel that i bought as a mech special. The previous owner spent a lot of money trying to resolve a fuel cutout issue but had given up. He stated that he thought the issue may be injector coding but had given up just short of investigating further. I got the jeep & did some troubleshooting on it but had an inadequate scan tool to check injector coding. I purchased this scan tool and it showed up with over 80% charge so i took it out and plugged it into the jeep. It was very user friendly & has a ton of functions. I navigated my way to the injector code reading section and saw all the codes were incorrect. I programmed the correct codes in and followed the prompts as needed to upload the right data to the ecm. With this completed, the jeep is now fixed & i have this tool to thank for it and can also use it on any other vehicles i have or can assist other. Very highly recommend giving this scan tool or other Autel products a look. Knowing also that you can email them a VIN & they will tell you which scan tool will perform the adequate tasks without overspending or under spending your budget is also great peace of mind ... show more

I gave this tool an entire year of use before this review. I'm a master mechanic running a used car reconditioning team for Toyota so I work on every kinda of at a dealership level of expertise but not just on one manufacture. I have pushed this tool to it's limits of what it can and can't do. I would say for most people they will never use this tool to it's full potential. I've done coding on Toyota to make the windows roll down with the use of the key fob to programming new VIN numbers on used ECU so the networks inside the car will talk nicely to each other. Auto write ID's to TMPS computers snagged directly from the tool. Does somethings faster than the Toyota factory tool. Haven't been able to perform certain SCN coding from Mercede. Failed to perform smart key access on a Dodge Challenger but did add the immobilizer and Keyless side just fine. Some screams are scream for screen compared factory tool. Some rough translations and have noticed it will skip certain steps I've come across and if your don't know what to do you could get stuck. Can get a bit laggy. Some cars work faster than others. Does work without current software subscription. speaking of the subscription, my first year of renewing will cost me $800. Sometimes functions are not where your would expect them to be and have to hunt for then. 1 menu may say it may not be able to do a certain task and going through a different Sub menu you will be able to perform that task. I purchased this item only to discover that some software functions illustrated in tutorial videos and online documentation did not exist on my unit. In particular, multiple references state to go to Data Manager and then Vehicle Management, but there is no "Vehicle Management" item. This is despite ensuring that all system software and apps were updated to the latest versions. After contacting Autel support and providing my scanner's serial number, I was told that my unit was an "overseas" version, and not a North American unit. As such, some software functions would not be available on my unit. Specifically, the option to manage your internal and external storage is not there. You cannot download or move any car manufacturer updates/packages from the internal storage to the SD card. For me, this alone makes this unit virtually unusable because I'm limited to the 32GB internal storage and I need to install MANY car manufacturer packages. Nowhere in the description or details did it mention that this was anything other than an assumed North America (USA) version of the scanner. I didn't even know there were different versions until I encountered the missing software options and contacted Autel support. Beware if you purchase this item--it might not be a fully-featured North American product. ... show more

If you are looking to do your own mechanics this is the tool that will do it all. Here is a kicker the company contacted me about a month after and offered me a free screen protector and a free quick scan tool as a thank you no strings attached. Awesome company and customer service. Buy this you won’t be disappointed. The screen is big and easy to navigate the functions. It comes with all cables for just about every make and model out there. The OB2 is wireless and can be connected directly with the supplied cable if necessary for certain functions. The hard case protects and houses all cables, chargers main unit and so on. There is a prolific amount of these scanners to pick from and not being a professional mechanic it is difficult to decide on which one is the correct choice for me. After many hours of study I chose the Autel Maxisys MS906TL it does almost all of the test that I will need to do and is a bi-directional scanner and will program some devices on the most vehicles. The price is more than I wanted to pay but the in the long run I do think the investment is going to be worth it. So far I really like this tool. I haven't had to deal with customer service yet so that's a good thing. It seems to work on may platforms of vehicles and the tpms works great on gm vehicles! Only flaw is the screen is very susceptible to scratches.
