I will applaud, this is their 1st attempt, and it was done spectacularly, but not without its takeaways. The comfort is amazing, but since my head size is medium to small, it fits that point, where if any loser, it would slide off, but for the moment fits right. Also, make sure the pads are aligned, it might not be seated properly, as mine weren't. In their price range, I can compare them to the Sundoras, the Sundoras are cleaner, more balanced sounding. But these have a more fun sound, the only problematic thing I have with them is that the treble is lifted with the upper mid-range, giving them at times on female singers a little too much harshness and a thinner feel, such when listening to some Sigrid tracks, but then I put on the Marias, and I'm sent over the moon in love. But for the most part, I don't mind issue, as the treble has such a vivacious shimmer, that it's quite breathtaking @ moments, making details pop, and cymbal strikes sound lively, I sail in it. Bass goes low with a most enjoyable feel, and mid-bass is there, but the rumble steals the show, mids are wonderful and present, but as stated before, upper-mids might be elevated too much for a slight fer, not compensated enough from the upper bass and mid-bass. But I do find myself not going more than two days without putting these on my head, I do enjoy them alot. They seem to go better with my warmer source options. I enjoy them on my IFI Zen, with bass on, and I enjoy them on my SMSL SU-9 x IfI Zen Can, bass elevated, and finally to add a touch more richness, space and depth the XDOUU TA-10 tube hybrid, it balances out the highs and upper mid-range nicely. EQ is also nice, as I use JRiver's Media to open up my files. Build is ok, but looks good and I love the design, came with a good cord, but pit on a different cable with a 4.4 end. ... show more

    • An absolute gem of a headphone at $299. I'm buying 2.
I'm a life long audiophile that has been in pursuit of good sound ever since I got my first CD player at 13 years old. Unfortunately being an audiophile is being blessed/cursed with constantly trying to find the holy grail of sound. I've been through my fair share of gear, but very possibly found one of the sweetest pieces of gear I've ever come across. I've been following the Chinese Hifi (ChiFI) scene for 5+ years and buying a ChiFI product today is still a bit of a crap shoot. Lots of no name brands, new brands with no reputation, and some established brands that seem to focus on quantity vs. quality.I've never heard of Aune, but after listening to this headphone I'm sold on the brand. I frankly don't understand how they are able to deliver the AR5000 @ $299. They could have easily priced this headphone at 2x the cost and I'm pretty sure it would still be extremely competitive. Unfortunately there are so many people that think the Airpods Pro Max, Bose Ultra, Sony XM5, etc. are audiophile level products when in reality they are simply mass produced consumer grade products. The AR5000 is the equivalent of eating an amazing home cooked meal prepared by a talented chef vs. going to a high end chain restaurant. It's just so unique and without the mass consumer feel of the majority of audio gear these days. The ingredients of the AR5000 have definitely been carefully sourced and end product executed by someone that put in a significant amount of effort. As to the sound, it all depends on the dac/amp. I've tested out the headphone using the Fiio BTR7, Fiio K9 (ESS and AKM versions), Fiio Q15, Aune Flamingo and Aune SC9 Pro dacs/amps. The SC9 Pro + AR5000 is an insane combo / bargain at $999. I honestly don't know if it gets better than this. As far as source I've used YouTube and Amazon Music UltraHD files. What's crazy is that any source material sounds good on this headphone. As to the overall sound: Smooth, Musical, Airy Soundstage, Detailed, Refined. The more expensive an amp you use the better this headphone will sound. At a bare minimum I would look at a Fiio BTR7 or even better the Fiio Q15. I tested out the Aune Flamingo, but didn't really like it with the AR5000. The sound produced by this set of cans (w/ the SC9 Pro amp) is so superb that I'm getting goosebumps. For example, listening to Sade Live "Is It A Crime" on Youtube and it feels like I'm actually at the concert. I've never experienced this feeling before when listening to a set of cans. Only criticisms: 1)Wish it came in black 2) Balanced cables cost an additional $49. I can't wait to see what else Aune has in store for the future. ... show more

    • Fantastic! Sounds like a headphone 2-3 times the price!
To begin with I'm an audiophile that enjoys music in four languages. I'm as particular as my budget will allow. I currently own the Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro ( 600 ohm) Beyerdynamic DT880, Sennheiser Drop 6xx, and the Focal Elear. I've just opened the aune AR5000 that I've ordered from amazon. I have read these headphones need possibly up to 100+ hours of "burn in" time. I'm not sure I agree too much with that much amount of time but I have to say the I am SHOCKED to hear how wonderful these transducers sound right out of the box. I'm just floored at how open and accurate they sound. My wife tried them on and instantly this big smile appeared. Her words were " you can hear everything". They sound far and above their price point. They actually sound far better ( at least to me) than the Sennheiser Drop 6xx which is a headphone that is normally a reference point of accuracy. The AR 5000 are a well built, very light, and beautiful headphone. The spaciousness and precision is hard to describe. The angled driver and pads make you feel as if you are actually present for the actual performance. ( the same technology Focal uses). If you are in the market for a set of headphones I highly recommended that you audition them. If you don't like them, return them, try something else. I'm definitely keeping mine.
