I installed the Aulwoouu 36W LED Ceiling Light Fixture in my office to replace an old fashioned ceiling light that used two 60 watt bulbs. There are four main parts to this fixture, the mounting plate that attaches to the ceiling, the LED panel that mounts to the mounting plate, the plastic frosted cover and the bottom ring that attaches to the mounting plate posts. Installation of the fixture was very straight-forward. After turning off the power and removing the old fixture, I attached the ground wire which is preinstalled on the back of the mounting plate, to the ground wire in the box. The LED panel has a back (hot) and white (neutral) wire reattached to the panel. You thread those wires through the center hole in the mounting plate and connect them to the black and white wires in the box. Once everything is connected, you screw the mounting plate onto the box, attached the LED panel and attached the cover and retaining ring. The LED panel has four very strong magnets that hold it to the mounting ring. Beside this being an interesting way to watch the LED panel, it made installation very easy since the LEDs are held in place on the mounting ring while you connect the wires. The instructions included with the light says you can either attach the LEDs via the magnets, or align the holes in the LED panel with the mounting plate holes and screw them into place together. While I appreciate that the manufacturer gives you the choice, I don't see why you would want to screw the LEDs in place. In any case, the option is there if you want it. Although the cover is plastic, once mounted it looks the same as the frosted glass on the old fixture. When turned off, the fixture has a clean modern look. When turned on, the cover does a nice job of diffusing the light which lights the room well with no harsh glare or hot spots. The LEDs give off a very cool light color as it is rated at 5000K and 2000 lumens. Given that this is my office, I like the cool temperature. There is no flicker at all. The light is rated as dimmable but as of now, I don't see a need to dim them as the light seems to be a good balance for the room. My only issue is that the wires are 20 gauge stranded wire which I think is very thin. Given that most US homes use 14 gauge solid wire, I would have liked to see a heavier gauge wire on the fixture. I understand that these LEDs run cool and draw less wattage than older incandescent bulb, but I still think 20 gauge wire is too thin. For that reason, I took off 1-star. I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like the Aulwoouu 36W LED Ceiling Light Fixture. The 80 LEDs are bright, installation was easy and the nickel finish on the exterior rings adds a nice modern look to the room. I have boob lights all throughout my hallways and I have been looking for a light that would be bigger, brighter and overall nicer looking while on a budget AND have it be safe as it would be flush with the ceiling and I have become aware that some lighting can get too hot. This was really easy to install because you don't have to put the light housing in separately it stays attached with magnets ( which was fine with me so I didn't do the alternate mounting option - screwing it in place. This covers the area where the boob light was and looks WAY better, now that I know I like it I will get the other two especially at this price. ETL safety rated to keep your family safe and your home owner’s insurance valid This is a very high quality junction box flush mount light fixtures with a great design and high Quality Control because the light fixture was flawless. The great design is because the light is ETL safety certified AND wall switch dimmable. For my moral values, to keep my family safe, for my liability insurance requirements, and to keep my home owner’s insurance valid, I only use or install ETL or UL or CSA, or UKCA safety certified and labeled electrical products in my own home and in other people’s homes or businesses. These electrical safety certifications are provided by electrical product safety testing laboratories that are independent from the manufacturer. If you want your family to be safe and want your home owner’s insurance to remain valid you must only have electrical products that have such electrical safety certifications showing that the product passed strict outside laboratory electrical safety testing. Ask your city’s electrical inspector if they will approve use of NON-safety certified and labeled electrical devices in your home; and then ask your professional licensed electrician if they will install NON-ETL or NON-UL or NON-CSA, or NON – UKCA electrical devices; and then ask your home owner’s insurance agent if your home owner’s insurance will be valid if you install such NON-safety labeled electrical products. Of course, your home owner’s insurance agent will not inspect your home electric appliances until AFTER the fire so that the insurance claim can be denied. ... show more
