Product received as expected, looked good and hydrated well and tasted very flavorful. Product exceeded my expectations. Will purchase again. Saves so much time and money having to buy fresh during the winter months when peppers are not in season in the northeastern us. I put them in boiling water but because I only need a little I put them in stainless steel bowls then placed the bowl in a pan with boiling water like a double boiler just to ensure they hydrated well and the water I used didn't cool too fast before they could hydrate. I bought dehydrated potato slices and minced onion and dehydrated celery and tvp and made a delicious scalped potatoes. ... show more

I use this every day in soups, stews, and other dishes and it's been a solid addition when store trips or availability of fresh has been an issue. Longest open can has gone about six months without any degradation that I could discern. In general, I find Augason Farms to have solid consistent products and, while expensive, for those of us far from stores, a good value as supplement and survival food. I use this product, the whole egg powder, the butter powder and the freeze-dried shredded cheese pretty much every day. No complaints. ... show more

I just assumed since it was Augason Farms that these were freeze-dried. I'll have to look closer from now on. They're just dehydrated peppers, but that's OK. They do take a while to re-hydrate, but the flavor is actually pretty good. These peppers have their own flavor, don't expect them to taste just like fresh peppers from the garden though. The texture once rehydrated is a little chewy as well. I am a little disappointed in them not plumping back up fully. If you're looking for dehydrated peppers, you will probably be happy with these. I bought two cans on sale, and they came to 71¢ per ounce, which is very good if you price dehydrated diced red/green bell peppers. Thankfully, they are diced up enough that they aren't these enormous chunks. My wife asked, "So what, I don't need to grow green peppers now?" I had to tread carefully there. We grow a lot of peppers, and she always puts diced peppers up in the freezer. No, no, no, I told her, we're preppers now. We have started purchasing a good majority of their vegetables to use instead of purchasing them in store. They actually taste much better than the frozen ones. The cost turned out to be much lower also and no freezing or refrigeration needed. $174.20 total cost for 281 servings vegetable servings, 38 burger mix servings, 66 orange juice drinks, 20 apple slice servings, 18 potato slice servings. We are getting more items. We shouldn't have to purchase any vegetables etc. for the rest of the year. Then we will start getting our supply for next year since their shelf life is great when unopened. ... show more
