  • The laser broke
The laser broke

  • Super easy to use! From box to projects in a few hours.
This product is great! I'm new to laser engraving and this brought my projects to a new level. I was able to scan a hand drawn design load it into lasergrbl and produce a wood engraving on the first day! If you are considering working with a laser engraver this will get you there in just a few hours for a low cost entry point. Technology has come a long way and Aufro makes it available to almost everyone. Thank you for designing and producing this. *If you were like me and have been hesitant to start your new journey, you will be surprised at how easy it is. Be safe, have fun! ... show more

  • Not happy!
The media could not be loaded. I ordered it back in June. I didn't open or set it up because I was moving. Now I have moved. Open it up today and it's burnt up. Several motors are burnt. The plastic runners are melted and so are the wires.

It is engineering nightmare

  • No instructions provided
First let me say that it works very well. And it was easy to put together. There was a link to a YouTube video that showed how to put it together. Everything else I had to find on my own. Once I figured out how to focus the laser (There is a metal cylinder that you place under the laser and lower it until it touches the wood) then it worked well. This is the first Laser engraver that I have owned, and this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. It is a very enjoyable process to learn. I got both the free software and I bought LightBurn. The free software is very easy to use, the other, well just watch the videos on YouTube. The company that makes this sent me an email letting me know that they are there to help with any problem with the machine itself but otherwise I'm on my own to figure out how to use it. If there were more detailed instructions on how to use this, I would have given them 5 stars. So, if you are someone who can handle a little frustration in learning how to use this then I highly recommend this. If not look for another device. ... show more

  • Great at engraving and cutting!
As a first time user of a laser engraver I was a little intimidated when this arrived. However, I was quickly relieved to find how easy this was to set up. At first the directions were confusing but when I followed their link I found great info that made it easy to setup and use. You won't find a better quality laser for a cheaper price. I highly recommend for beginners, like me, as well as advanced users. Great product! ... show more

  • Not my first laser. Not my last. Decent entry level laser but set your expectations accordingly.
This product is made by Ortur, who is well known for their Laser Master, Laser Master 2, and Laser Master 2 Pro products. I'm not sure why they branded this with a different name, but I have a suspicion that it is branded thus to be part of an economy line. And it shows in some of the details. I owned a Laser Master 2 for 6 months before deciding to purchase this unit. I figured Ortur had learned some lessons from the LM2 and the Pro, and put that learning into this product. And that's probably true, but they also seem to have tried some new ideas, and I'm not sure they're good ones. Here's the bad: The lack of limit switches is disappointing. It means frequently running into a scenario where the software has no idea where the laser is. I often need to tell the laser to go to the middle of the work area, stop the laser before it smacks into the frame, manually move it away from the frame, and try again. And when it comes to a stop, wherever it is, then manually move it to where I just told the software to move it to. Once it's in generally the right area, then I can line up the work as usual. The dual stepper motor design on the X gantry is very difficult from my previous experience. Instead of a crossbar on the bottom driving both sides from one stepper, each side is driven individually. So the gantry and be aligned simply by moving one side, but there is a catch. When you move one stepper motor, electrical impulses from it are sent to the other side which tries to move as well. If you unplug the stepper motors, they are truly independent and you can move one without affecting the other. This is not immediately evident. The eccentric nuts that tighten the wheels against the frame did have have enough adjustment in them on my machine to tightly contact the frame, so I had to get creative to solve that. Additionally I had an issue with clearance between the frame and the Y axis belt pulleys. Here's the good: The frame is more rigid than the LM2 so once you get it aligned, it stays aligned. The X gantry is very lightweight and does not have the stepper mounted on it, so it can move very quickly. That translates to faster engraving without the machine becoming unstable. The wiring on this unit is not routed through a drag chain setup, but the wiring is streamlined very well, and intelligently routed. After a month of using the AL2, the wiring has not yet gotten in my way like it does with the LM2. The Z axis adjustment has been improved somewhat, and while it still uses a thumbscrew, they have added a spring to maintain tension so you can adjust it more easily without accidentally dropping the laser module. Overall, I would put this unit somewhere between the LM2 and the LM2 Pro S2 in terms of overall value. In my opinion, you're better off spending a few extra dollars and getting the Pro. Another reviewer mentioned some confusion about the Air Assist. The SF module does not come with air assist parts. The LF module does come with a nozzle, hose, and restriction valve. ... show more

  • Does not come with instructions
Product did not come with any instructions. Cane with a pamphlet with a qr code to scan and try to find out how to use it or set it up online. Also have no idea how to focus it to actually get it to engrave because the website makes things difficult to try and find how to operate correctly
