Description

When we brought the legendary ATH-M50x studio sound into the world of personal wireless audio, we created what are, simply, the best-sounding wireless headphones on the market. But we weren’t content to stop there. Introducing the ATH-M50xBT2, the second generation of our critically acclaimed M-Series wireless over-ear headphones, featuring a number of enhancements to improve performance and usability. But don’t worry – we’ve changed nothing about the critically acclaimed sonic signature. The M50xBT2 delivers the same exhilarating wireless listening experience as its predecessor, offering exceptional clarity and deep, accurate bass response. There’s even the option to adjust the headphone’s EQ settings, if you so choose – make the changes in the A-T Connect app and save directly to the headphones. In addition, we have greatly improved vocal pickup, incorporating beamforming microphone technology for clearer phone calls and communication with the built-in Amazon Alexa voice assistant. We’ve also added multipoint pairing to let you connect wirelessly to two devices at once. An updated USB-C connection, a low latency mode, and compatibility with high-quality audio codecs round out the enhancements.

  • Great bluetooth on-ear headphones
Style: Standard M50xBT2
Sound quality: very good Battery life: excellent Comfort: very comfortable, but high headband clamping pressure Build quality: excellent Portability: pretty good I had my eye on these headphones for a while, but never pulled the trigger, as they are not cheap as far as these type of headphones go. I will be using this almost exclusively for media viewing on my tablet at night. I also wanted something semiportable for occasional travel. I will sometimes use them for music, although I own a high-end audio system for that purpose. I have 2 pair of Focal headphones for serious listening sessions. The sound quality is very good, although I do wish they had a little more volume to them. If you wanted that, you'll need to run them in wired mode and use a dedicated headphone amp. The bluetooth works very well, and the app allows equalization among other settings. It is not necessary to use the app to use the headphones. The bluetooth pairing was fast and painless. They are extremely comfortable. The material of the earcups and headband are high-quality. I find the headband clamping pressure to be higher than I like, but the headphones are so comfortable that I don't think it's going to be an issue. They are also comfortable while wearing eyeglasses. The joints appear to be well-designed and strong. I usually do not buy headphones that are foldable for this reason, as they just don't last, even when treated gently. I don't think that is the case here. Unlike some of the better bluetooth headphones out there, the control buttons are placed so that they're actually usable. Other high-end brands that I've owned had terrible ergonomics in this regard. The battery life seems excellent. After 1 week of daily use, the battery charge has hardly changed from a full charge. I bought a pair that were Amazon reconditioned. They appeared lightly used, but not in like-new condition. The product description made it seem like they were either open-box or unused and repaired. The only reason that I'm not complaining is that I got these for a very good price. So far, so good. Recommended. ... show more

  • Very pleased with these bluetooth headphones
Style: Standard M50xBT2
These headphones are very nice sounding, comfortable and have great battery life. I am super-pleased with these. Some headphones can be too bass heavy or the highs can be too high which can be irritating and nerve-racking, but these are quite neutral which is a good thing in my opinion. I have an iPhone and downloaded their app and it has an equalizer where you can adjust the sound to better suit your personal preference. I did adjust the equalizer and I really like it better than the default setting, so I recommend that you check the app out. These are not noise-cancelling headphones but the padding is pretty thick and does block a lot of noise. I have a very loud air condition unit outside my window and this really does a nice job blocking out most of the noise. I've had these for almost two years(bought in April 2022) and use them almost every day and they are holding up very well. For the record, I don't throw them around, etc. I think these would fit most people's heads. I have a large head and can expand them to fit me fine. These are not the lightest headphones, but I think they are comfortable and I wear them hours at a time. I wear them inside so I never get too hot. They are over-the-ear headphones so they might get warm but for me it hasn't been an issue. I might occasionally take them off for a minute or crack the seal to let some air in. Privacy note: They do have an option in the app where you can turn off data sharing. It did surprise me to find out that Audio-Technica collects information about my usage, but other companies do this too, like Bose. The Audio-Technica app does say the data collected is not personally identifiable. Anyway, I just thought I would mention this for those of you who are privacy minded. ... show more

  • Great upgrade
Style: Standard M50xBT2
I have been a fan of the original ATH-MX50's for a long time and the ATH-MX50x BT2, is a great upgrade. I am not sure I really needed to upgrade, my originals still work great after 6 years, but I thought the Bluetooth feature would be nice to have. Right out of the box, this headset is great! Fit feels just like the originals, buttons are responsive and seem durable. Being able to plug in is a great option but with the battery life, I don't think I will ever need to use it. I will appreciate this function when I travel as I will be able to plug into the airplane's entertainment system as well as walk around the airport without the cord catching on all of my travel gear. Even though these are not noise-cancelling headphones they do a great job of blocking out unwanted noise. Just like the originals the construction is sturdy, ear cups fit great, nice, and soft on my head. I have no complaints about this product, it is great. Although I highly doubt, I will ever need to, I would purchase this again in a heartbeat. Great product, highly recommended! I may never need to purchase them again, but I will tell everyone else that they should. ... show more

  • Great Sound. Terribly Uncomfortable.
Style: Standard M50xBT2
The sound quality is really good for 200$ Bluetooth over-ears. But for myself, they were horribly uncomfortable. There are A LOT positive reviews from people that really like how these headphones feel, I am not one of them. Which is unfortunate because I really wanted to like these - they're the best over-ears I could find without ANC (which I purposefully didn't want), in this price range. The ear-pads are angled, and oval shaped, and relatively small. Which apparently doesn't work for my head-shape. They are a snug fit over the ears - I highly recommend upgrading the ear-pads if you do buy these. The angle of the ears makes the headband sit weird on my head, they feel like they're falling forward on my head. And if I angle them back, the angled / oval ear-pads sit uncomfortably on my ears. They're also heavier than I was expecting, but that's to be expected with BT headphones like this. 4 stars because the sound is really good - worth the price. But the shape really didn't work for me -1. ... show more
