  • Great but with some minor flaws.
So I've used this product for several months now and I've come to both love and dislike some aspects of this headset. Likes: I'll start off with the sound quality, obviously and easily the best part of the headset, almost unmatched. Also I'm very happy with the build quality and over all design of the headset. They feel like they will last a good long time if you take too care of them. Take away from this is that you don't feel like you purchased a cheap expensive product, it feels like it had real thought and quality put into it. Dislikes: I'll start off with my biggest issue with the headset, the mic. The mic is of decent quality however other headsets currently do have better mics for gaming and better noise canceling. Also depending on how you want to use the headset (wired or wireless) the mic will sound entirely different. Through some testing in game chats, most people agreed the wireless mic quality actually sounded better than the wired mic which was a bummer because I actually wanted to keep these wired but it's not that big of a deal. Secondly, the headset has a Bluetooth and wireless option so theoretically you could listen to music off your phone while also connected to your Xbox or pc. I don't ever use this function like I did my last headset because for some reason the volume control on the phone also controls the volume on the Xbox or PC instead of allowing me to balance the 2 audios separately. Normally, my phones music is way louder than my Xbox and I can't raise or lower the music without it also raising or lowering the Xbox game I'm playing, and also since the headset is connected wirelessly, no you cannot change the volume settings through the Xbox, only through the scroll wheel on the headset or using your phone. My previous headset, a steel series, connects to the Xbox wirelessly without a USB and also connects to my phone by Bluetooth and when I change the volume on my phone, it doesn't change my Xbox volume at the same time. They are completely separate. Also wanted to say that some days they like to disconnect a lot from my Xbox and other days I have no issues with it. The days it happens it's extremely annoying because it stays crackly until I hear "connected" in my ear over and over. Thirdly I wanted to bring attention to the comfort and the battery real quick. The comfort is okay at best. I can wear it for about an hour with glasses on until I start feeling to much pressure and heat from the headset. It hugs tight and the fabric it's made of doesn't allow for easy air flow. Now the battery is just a minor complaint but it last about 8-10 hours for me before needing another charge however for some reason charging it (with a fast charger) takes about 10 hours to fully charge back up. Not sure if that's just my headset or if other people are also experiencing that. I can put them on the chatger before I go to bed but when I wake up they still aren't fully charged. Overall: If you buy these just for a good quality headset and you're mainly looking for the best sound with a decent mic this headset is for you. However, if you're looking at this headset and want it for some of the extra features like the Bluetooth and wireless connectivity then I'd say look somewhere else first and try them. I think in the future this company can make some amazing gaming headsets, they just have some kinks to work out still to really get competitive in the market for gaming headsets. ... show more

  • Build quality and customer service!?
Like most of you reading reviews, doing your research, scouring the internet for what is “the best headphones in XXX range”. I landed on these about a year ago. First impressions out of the box were meh. Build quality didn’t feel the best. Felt like they could be easily broken but I take care of my things so not too much of a concern. As others have stated. The clamp pressure it applies to your head upon wearing them is tight at first but loosens up overtime. Ok, two “minors” so far but ever the optimist, we move forward. Connect to my PC (plugged into PC first and used on Xbox later). Downloaded software, enabled Dolby Atmos, fired up Destiny and dear lord these things sounded good. Came from Astro’s and was not disappointed. No question the sound quality is fantastic. I could hear everything! The other reviews didn’t lie. It is why I decided to purchase after all. I was super happy….was. About 4 months into my bliss the left ear piece broke when I was taking them off one night. Earlier when I said I take care of my stuff, I meant it. These never left my office. Installed a headphone rest literally into my wall next to the desk. The most travel these things ever saw was from the rest to my head sitting 3 feet away. Disappointing but hey warranty right. Contact customer support. Takes them a bit but they finally give me an RMA…however…I have to pay for shipping? Excuse me what…ok fine 30 bucks, please fix. Back to Astro’s until they come back. They finally do…almost 4 weeks from sending out. Fine whatever, they are back and I can enjoy once again. I’m about another 4 months into the 2nd pair and I start to get some crinkling foil noises in the left ear cup. Do some looking up and see others have had the same issue. Course only happens when I move my head…not to inconvenient right but hey…warranty right? Contact customer support. Estimating another 4 week return window. Customer support emails back. Long e-mail summed up…”yeah that can happen if you don’t take care of them, good luck”. Excuse me what….I treat these things better than I treat myself. So now I have a pair of headphones that sound amazing provided I just don’t move my head. TL;DR - amazing sound quality hampered by poor quality control and arguably worse customer service. ... show more
