  • Amazingly Well Made and Simple
I'm blind but I camp way out in the wilderness where there's no cell signal, no hospital and nothing around. No, I am not insane enough to try and go by myself, I wouldn't even if I were sighted to be honest LoL. Within 2 minutes of opening this up I had found the compass, the whistle, the emergency knife and the fire starter. Obviously I can't use the compass but I can find my direction of travel other ways, maybe not quite as accurate as a compass but if I need to go west I can LoL. Anyways the fire starter has a black coating on it, you need to scrape that off before it will spark, I found a YouTube video that explained that part. As soon as I got that coating scraped off it sparked like a champ!!! So the clips that connect both ends have goodies in he middle, one side has the small emergency knife and the other side has the fire starter in it. You just use both of those for a spark. The compass and whistle are built into the clips as well, so it's all right there on your wrist. One thing to keep in mind though is the fire starter may cause magnetic interference with the compass because of it's iron content. Simply unclip the ends and then use the compass. The rest of the bracelet is paracord, enough to make a trap, a shelter and some fishing line if need be. Honestly you'll probably never need all of the paracord but it's nice to have it in excess in the event you need to make an emergency stretcher or maybe a sled to drag equipment or gathering fire wood and so on. I've used and checked out tons of similar items that have fishing hooks and other extras in them but those ones are usually pretty low quality. This one is literally so well made and designed with so much common sense a blind dude figured it out without help aside from the fire started thing. If you camp or are into survival or know someone who is this is a fantastic item! ... show more

  • Great Bracelets
Bought these as a last minute stocking stuffers idea for my grandkids. I had my doubts but they turned out to be a great option. They were really excited with them. In no time they were outside trying the firestarter function. All were able to start fires (ages 8-15) and had a great time. Once again, the least expensive gift turned out to be the biggest hit. ... show more

  • Very useful
I'm not an expert in survival at all. It was recommended that we have a Go Bag for emergencies, so I ordered this as part of my prepared bag. The whistle is extremely loud. It is just a very small spout that you blow into and it was one of the things that I didn't readily see in the pictures when I ordered, though I knew it was there somewhere. Found it!! The compass works really well. The instructions state that it has to be unfastened because the spark striker will interfere with its function. I found that to be true. North was off when the band was fastened around my wrist, but was completely normal and where I expected it to be once I took the bracelet apart. I must say that I found the spark striking to be a total fail for me. It instructs you to scratch the black paint off the "flint" pole until you can see bare metal. By striking the metal paddle against the pole, it is supposed to create sparks. I could not get it to spark even a little bit. I'm sure it will work at some point, but apparently I don't have enough of the paint scratched off or I'm not holding my mouth correctly as my father used to say. LOL Just letting you know that there is a large learning curve on getting that to work. I don't understand why they cover it with paint if they know that the paint will interfere with the function!!!! Personally, I think I would rather just pack a lighter or some matches and forget the caveman sparky thing. There is also a note in the instructions that the cord is actually the entire bracelet itself, and once you take it apart, it cannot be put back together again unless you are an expert at tying cords. So, for most of us, once you take it apart, the bracelet is no longer a bracelet anymore!! That kinda sucks. I can see the usefulness of this bracelet anyway, and for the price, I'm not sorry that I bought it. Hopefully I never have to actually use it, but I know that there are some useful things to be found in it nonetheless. ... show more

  • Definitely Came in Handy!
I just ordered another set of these. My dad is an avid hiker and is always prepared for emergencies. Yesterday, he went hiking with some friends and brought a significantly smaller pack due to familiarity with the trail. One of his friends slipped and broke her ankle. Thankfully, he had this bracelet and was able to make a splint with wood, gloves and the bracelet cord to stabilize it until emergency crews came. One never knows when they may need to use it! ... show more

  • Could be better quality
**Atomic Bear Paracord Bracelet Review:** The Atomic Bear Paracord Bracelet is like the utility belt of wrist wear - it's got survival in its DNA. For the price, it's a decent piece of gear, offering a bit of style with a side of practicality. However, if quality was a spectrum, this bracelet would be somewhere in the middle. The paracord is functional, but the stitching could use a bit more love, and the clasp sometimes feels like it's not fully committed to staying closed. It's a good starter for anyone dipping their toes into the world of survival gear or just looking for a rugged accessory. Just don't expect it to be your forever survival companion; it might need a bit of TLC now and then. ... show more

  • Emergency bracelets are useful
It's two bracelets made from paracord, both with firesteel and strikers, along with miniature compasses. Will be very useful on hikes, but honestly hoping I never need to disassemble one or both to save myself or others. The tools aboard both will be also helpful, although smaller compasses tend to have issues with reliability of the angle, in my experience. One plus: these compasses seem to be much more accurate than typical for the size. ... show more
