An update to my prior review. It takes finding a competent representative. I explained the situation and she fixed the error in coverage. Unfortunately, they were unable to repair my laptop but they issued a refund for the laptop. They were relatively fast especially considering this took place over Thanksgiving weekend. Asurion insurance was presented as an option when I bought my Macbook Laptop. After three days, I have been "disconnected" from phone calls twice. Told I would get a callback from a third call while trying to get to tech support. Made additional attempts to call and online chat with tech support with all the holds and transfers to the wrong departments befitting the level of described competency. Was then told the only possible way they would repair my laptop was with a factory reset and I was advised to backup my data. Great idea if I could log on. Then told to take it to a local repair shop for backup which is definitely not something the people who already took my money could possibly do. On day three, I was told on chat that my name, in all possible variations, was not the name Amazon had on the account and I couldn't possibly access my policy. (I had already uploaded a copy of the receipt with my name and details of the quality insurance product I had purchased.) On my final call (where they could access my account with my name) I was told that evidently, I have mobile phone insurance, not laptop insurance. My only option was to cancel the policy and could not change or purchase another policy because I was 11 days over the month window. So in exchange for parting with my money, I've had three days of aggravation, a non-functional laptop, and unless I could magically change my device to a cell phone, an insurance policy I could not use.   • Took 3 months to contact me
Over all the service was good, and the technicians were polite. However, it took the claims department 3 months to let me know they needed some photos to complete the claim review. I submitted the claim on May 29 and only received an email on August 26 because I called to find out what was going on. Someone somewhere screwed up royally and the only person willing to apologize about it was the operator who directed me to the claims review department. Oh, if you ever do go into a claims review, don't expect to get any information from the Asurion/Amazon website. It simply states that your claim is under review and doesn't give you a way to contact the review team. ... show more

  • Very Inconvenient for a Mobile Phone
This has to be the worst plan for a mobile phone. If you have a phone with water damage or anything else that needs a full replacement you need to bring the phone to one of their stores, or send it in. They then take possession of your phone leaving you with nothing, no backup of your phone, no actual device, nothing to use, no new replacement. You then need to wait for them to inspect it and I was told 24-72 hours before i receive an amazon gift card to replace the phone....WHO wants to be without a phone or your old phone to backup to the new one?? This is bogus. I am currently on day 7 waiting for my gift card to get a new phone. I went ahead and bought a phone and backed it up and send in my old one leaving me out the money while I wait for you to get me a gift card and you have had my phone in your possession for a FULL WEEK! Im on my third phone call and needed to be escalated to another team? Take my credit card give me the full amount and let me buy the new phone before I give you the old one, and if I don't turn it back in then charge me,. WHAT A TERRIBLE PHONE INSURANCE PLAN! I bought a new phone and didnt insure it, whats the point if you wont honor it! Huge disappointment.   • Returned the product that this was to insure.
There was nothing that I disliked about about this accident protection. It arrived when expected. This was to cover a cell phone, which I returned. When I notified Asurion that this coverage was no longer needed the return process immediately took place without a problem. So quick and easy. I will use Asurion again when needed. ... show more

I'll buy this insurance every time. The rep was really friendly and understanding. I brought my phone to a repair retailer and in 30 minutes I had a resolution. Very simple process.

  • Looks like a pretty good scam...maybe you get the refund
This offering appears to be a pretty well thought out scam so but good luck making a claim for something as simply as a cracked screen. They collect your $100 deductible and then refuse to authorize the repair at their repair shop where the tech says they can order the part but Amazon (notice they say Amazon and not Asurion) will not authorize the repair. After playing the game of telephone for days and then weeks they will eventually "buy out" your phone where they take the phone. The repair shop says this happens all the time with Amazon. Now fast forward a couple more weeks and you may find yourself waiting for an email with an e-gift card for Amazon. Each time you call they say it was just processed and you need to wait 72 hours for the email to arrive... After weeks of calling I finally obtained the promised refund, but I don't know if everyone trying to file a claim will eventually get this level of horrible service! It should not take this much drama to get a simple screen replacement which I was not able to obtain. Atleast the gift card was received to apply a credit to my account...of course after the Xmas sales on phones. 8-( Dec 3, 2022 started claim process Dec 31, 2022 completed the claim process ... show more
