  • Holy bowel movement
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp Pro TR
So I didn't really think it would make THAT much of a difference but it does. Everything clearer, no static and also don't have to worry about the dam xbox controller turning off when I'm watching streaming services. Cords are sufficiently long. The only two downside things are that you are 100 percent wired which is a small sacrifice for the boost in sound quality. Be prepared to be like the old days yelling at your siblings to watch the cord. I just sit close enough to where you can only go around me one way and solves the issue. Also the dac literally has no off switch and when you turn off the xbox it does not turn off no matter even if you are in full shutdown mode and not quick start. Expect the lights to stay on no matter what. I've just taken to unplugging the power cable from the back of the dac and hoping the repeated unplugging and replugging will not be harmful in the long run. Some people suggested getting a usb switcher so you can just switch off it when you are done playing. As for the headphones are comfortable and sound great but also ear cups lay flat plus headband is adjustable. I had no issues setting it up. Just plug the power cable into the USB on the xbox and that goes to the back of the dac. The included optical connection is required to get sound from your Xbox but the trick is that x/s no longer have an optical out. You'll need to either hook it up to a hdmi signal splitter or some TV have an optical out which is what I used. Also you have to update your firmware before you can get voice chat on xbox and worse yet it will not auto update. If it's not 36797 or later it will not work. You have to manually find it not on their site the firmware and update it. If you need help finding it. Ask me a question and I'll help. Now all this seems like too many hoops for you to jump through then maybe this isn't for you. I feel it's worth it and honestly setup is super quick once you know what to do. ... show more

  • Great Sound, Great for FPS Games
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp Pro TR
Returned another headset for this: I tried Turtle Beach and the Epos H6Pro. These are way better in my opinion. I use these for Battlefied, Warzone, HLL and Halo EQ settings are changeable, you can adjust the settings on the fly with the Mix Amp, or more in depth in the app/computer. There are also 5 quick presets you can swap to on the fly via a button. One thing I don't like is that you NEED a computer to update the Mix Amps software otherwise your Xbox won't recognize it and then you have a fancy paper weight. I don't own a computer so luckily I was able to use someone else's. That aside I'm a fan of these, my previous Astro's were A40's with the M80 Mixamp I bought in 2016 and used until my mixamp and headset wires finally broke a month ago. Hoping I can get atleast another 5 years out of these. ... show more

  • AVOID. Broken software, mediocre sound, unsatisfactory build.
Platform For Display: Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One Edition: A40 TR + MixAmp Pro TR
Foremost the Astro software used for updating the firmware is broken. Auto update stalls at 0% and manual update flat out fails to initialize. I repeatedly attempted on two different computers with two official versions of the software the firmware fails to update. Trying various cables and USB ports did not help. This leaves me unable to have any simple and usable functionality on Xbox series X. So far customer support is delayed in response and the only remedy I was given to fix being unable to update the software . . . was to update the software. They did not read my detailed e-mail or even the basic subject line. Clearly the start of getting the run around. On PC and with effort and extra cables and a chain of peripheral adapters and inputs I was able to at least try the sound on Xbox without chat. The default presets are terrible and fine tuning of the EQ is poor and difficult with Astros interface. If you have little to no aptitude for tuning your sound this will be a nightmare. To get a respectable sound I had to double mix with both Dolby and Astro Software because days of tuning one or the other produced nothing that was just right. In general the bass and highs are not great being either grating or muddled. The headphone build is fair but the mix amp, while sturdy, is missing features and has unsatisfactory inputs/output ports when compared against other similar hardware. There is no onboard chat mute or sliders and dials for tuning levels of settings such as mic monitor level, chat output level or back ground noise limiter. You have to leave your game and enter the software and use limited features to try and get your result. Also here is no audio mute like on my Turtle Beach Elite Pro T.A.C. amp where I can just push the volume dial to cut input. Also my T.A.C. amp produces better sound with the Astro A40 than the TR Pro mix amp. I will say the the A40 + Mix amp has accurate directional sound and is probably the only great feature it has. I was sorely disappointed in my purchase as I have been considering this model and brand for years. I guess I'll fall back to Turtle Beach. ... show more
