  • Buy these boots
Size: 10 Wide Color: Chestnut
I just bought my third pair of these boots. I started hiking in my first pair over 20 years ago and have put hundreds of miles on the previous two pair I have owned. The other two pairs are still functional, but need to be resoled. I intend to send them both back to Asolo to have them both resoled, so I will have a back up to my back ups again. These boots take some time to break in. Do not buy them and attempt a long hike out of the box. I wear them in my house regularly for a month or two before I take them on the trail. Once they are broken in, they are extremely comfortable and dependable. I have hiked many miles in strenuous and technical hiking conditions with these boots and have never had any concerns with them failing. They have kept my feet dry and protected for years. I also appreciate that these boots have a slightly higher ankle than other competitive brands. The additional ankle support is crucial descending mountains with rocks and roots. I have other friends I hike with that have gone through numerous pairs of other brands of boots, while I was still wearing my Asolos. I am a loyal Asolo customer and do not intend to ever buy another boot unless Asolo were to discontinue this item for some reason. Just buy them. You won’t be disappointed. ... show more

  • Best boot and trusted brand!
Size: 10 Wide Color: Chestnut
Putting great use to these boots in the northeast in light of all the snowfall and icy roads. Fits well and is supportive of your foot while working outdoors. Non slip and all weather proof!

  • Fit and Support Second to None, Just Like Last Pair. Hope to Get Even Half as Many Miles/Years
Size: 11.5 Color: Chestnut
Bought a pair of these in 2007 and they just gave up the ghost and delaminated. I also had extra laces I could have used to tie the soles on but luckily it was right at the end of not too long a hike so I flopped my way out. At first, I was upset and bummed you can’t just resole them. I was about to reorder when I read all the reviews talking about delam in less than a year and poor customer support. So after looking around a bit, I ordered a pair of Danner Mtn Light II’s that can be resoled. WORST FIT EVER. They were great going up but on the way back down, they dug into the back of my ankle and gave me blisters and bruises on both legs, right at my Achilles. Truly miserable and as much as I hate the inability to resole these Asolo’s, I’m not about to push through with the Danners until they break in (or they break me it). I couldn’t remember what the break-in was like on the Asolo’s because well, 14yrs is a long time ago, but I was pretty sure I’d remember if it was really unpleasant. I also started thinking about the crazy number of miles and feet I’ve done on those boots and how much I loved them right up until the delam. It’s definitely annoying to think about all the much worse places they could have delaminated on me but if I’m being honest, the tread blocks were already worn almost down to nubs and they should have been replaced at least a few years earlier. So, I took the risk and ordered another pair of these Asolo’s. Somehow they feel like they’re already broken in, just perfect, but also with the stout lateral support that makes it worth wearing this much weight on your feet. If I get even a fifth the amount of use out of these that I got from the last pair, they’re still a fantastic value. Regarding others’ delam issues, I don’t think I buy the Asolo argument that somehow regular use makes the glue last longer. It also raises some concerns about quality, longevity, and the company’s willingness to stand behind what is supposed to be a premium product. Common sense would say the more you pull and flex on the glue, the sooner it’ll fail. But what do I know? I’m not an engineer and I definitely used the heck out of my last pair so I’m sure Asolo would say I’m proof that regular use makes the glue last longer. Regardless, if I get a delam in the next year, I’ll update with a MUCH lower rating. For now, I couldn’t be happier with this boot and hopefully, I’m as fortunate with this pair as I was with the last. -JAD’s husband ... show more

  • Amazing boot
Size: 11 Color: Chestnut
With over 50 years of hiking and trying many boots during those years this boot easily comes at the top of the list. This is now my third pair leather backpacking boot and all three leather boots beat hands down all of the 15-20 non-leather boots I've owned. If your feet are shaped like the last Asolo manufacturer uses you will be happy with the fit. My last Asolo 555 leather boots were purchased in the late 80's. Up until this purchase they were the best fitting boot I ever owned. I broke those boot in on a 35 miles backpack trip in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. I purchased them after trying on 15-20 other brands of boots. After many years of not being happy with any other boot after those pair wore out, I went back to an Asolo low top and an Asolo mid high non leather boots and was very happy with the fit. As I got back into backpacking more I longed for a good leather boot with a stiff sole. For me the stiff sole is critical for long distance backpacking, especially on rocky trails. After breaking these boot in on an 9 miles 3,000 elevation gain hike I put them to the test on a 22 miles 3 day backpacking trip on very rocky trails. These boots really performed. They were so comfortable all day long that I didn't need to carry camp shoes. The bottoms of my feet never hurt as they usually do after a long 10+ mile day on rocky trails. Yes leather boots are heavier than the current popular trend of light weight hiking shoes or hiking boots, but if you carry a trail shoe and a camp shoe the gap in weight closes fast. My favorite adage for backpacking is I'd rather be comfortable on the trail than comfortable in camp. These boots really fits that adage. If this boot fits your foot correctly you will be very happy. ... show more

  • Amazing, great quality boots
Size: 9.5 Wide Color: Chestnut
This is my second pair, the first one lasted me 13 years before the sole materials separated and fell apart. I don’t use them for hiking, they are my work boots and winter walking boots. I have flat feet and require good quality footwear or my knees hurt. They aren’t a light weight boot, but they are very well made. Your feet almost rock front to back…but at the end of the day, my knees don’t feel like I worked all day. I originally bought these to replace a pair of Merrill leather hiking boots that I loved…but Merrill discontinued the style. The lasted 3 times longer. I’m 54 years old, so hopefully this is the last pair I’ll have to buy for work. But if they are still around in 2037, I’ll probably buy another pair! ... show more
