I bought the blue engraved handpan (440Hz) for $200 with low expectation, but to my surprise the handpan is legit! All notes are tuned correctly and it sounds great. I was also a little worried about the engraving affecting the tune or wearing on my fingers as I play, but neither of these are a problem. The manufacturer website lists this as 1.2mm "high hardness stainless steel," which I feel like should be in the description, but there you go. Comes with a nice carry/storage bag, stand, and mallets you should throw away when you get them because hard hits with those will make the drum go out of tune. I've been wanting a handpan for the past 2 years but they were waaaayyy out of my budget until recently. I ordered this unit because the listing said "Alloy Steel" which I took to mean 'Nitrided Carbon Steel' which has a much cleaner sound in my opinion than stainless steel handpans. Not to mention the fact that Stainless steel is almost impossible to re-tune, which is another turn-off for me. When this one finally arrived (4 days late) and I unpacked it, there were 3 notes that were flat when playing with bare hands (as is intended for this instrument) and the sound quality for the entire range of notes is so low that they can barely be heard at all. When I first placed the handpan in my lap it sounded okay, though muted, through most of the notes, but to add insult to injury, when I placed the handpan on the included tripod, many of the notes went completely dead. Figure that one out. Apparently their demo's are recorded with the microphone placed inside the drum to get the best sound quality for the recording. I am returning this one for a refund and ordering one I know for a fact to be Carbon Steel. On an up-note, the packaging was good as it came with a box inside a box. Shipping box was in far better shape (unblemished) than the original inner box. The Handpan itself looked really good, I just wish the sound quality had been way better than it is. Taps on the webbing between the notes actually sounded louder than the notes themselves. As a note to makers: as someone who occasionally works with metal, I believe the steel sheets used in making this particular model is far too thick to get the sound resonance of higher priced units. My guess is the pattern etching/milling was an attempt to thin the metal to improve the sound quality but it just wasn't enough. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Not a bad handpan but two of the lower notes are terribly out of tune .
