I'm in my 70s now, but I remember seeing spin art booths set up at county fairs and community arts and crafts shows in the 1970s. These booths are still popular today. I had never had an at-home version of Spin Art, so I was drawn to order this kit. It includes 36 pieces of pre-cut paper in various sizes, 7 paints, 2 white crayons, and 1 paintbrush. The Instructions are clear (except for saying to use "jam" paper), and the process is almost intuitive. I looked online for these specific Spin Art replacement supplies but wasn't unsuccessful. Patterns of the supplied paper can be cut from poster board, acrylic or poster paint could be used, and new plastic bottles are available if the supplied ones are too difficult to wash. This extends the life of the fun activity. I will gift this during our annual small-town Christmas toy drive and will not try the product. I'm sure this will be a Christmas morning hit, and I'll install the four AA batteries. Full Disclosure: I received this product for free from the Vine program. I remember this from my childhood and from my children's childhood. Was super excited to show my grand kids. Three boys aged 3, 7 and 10 absolutely loved it. They used all the included paper and most of the paint already. The 3 year old definitely required adult help and supervision however the older two used it independently. I placed a Dollar Store plastic tablecloth over the kitchen table. The paint washed off easily from hands, the equipment and even clothing (the 3 year old squirted me by accident). I checked Amazon and you can order more paint and paper so this product can be used over and over again. It requires 4 AA batteries (not included). Functions simply, you get some thinner paints to drop onto the spinning pieces of paper. It makes some fun and interesting patterns. Look, it may entertain your kids for like, 2-3 hours once but the point is that you DO IT TOGETHER and that's what makes it so fun. This set was so much fun to do with my 6 year old niece. We got it as a gift for her birthday. The packaging itself was nice, very giftable. Set-up was easy. She had so much fun mixing the colors. Her 3 year old brother enjoyed watching as well!

We remember this type of toy from our childhood. The concept of centrifugal painting was unique and we loved the way the colors spewed in a mixed rainbow. This spin art machine from Tinging Yuli is a fun recreation of the basic concept. We are excited to host our young nephews and nieces to enjoy this art project on their next visit. The set includes everything you need for a creative session. 7 bottles of paint, 2 white oil pastel crayons, a brush, 18 various shapes of cardboard for your target "canvas,” the main spin machine, a clear plastic splash guard and a page of instructions. The 4 size AA batteries are supplied by you. The assembly is quite easy. Be aware that the base upon which you place the cardboard is removable for cleaning. We suggest you remove it before inserting batteries. We did and were thankful because the switch was "on" and the motor started spinning immediately. The perforated plastic base not a particular hazard, but we prefer not to damage the motor if we inadvertently were holding the plate when the motor was trying to turn it. This plate has several tabs located around the periphery to secure the cardboard canvases. there is one set inboard of the outer ones to secure the smaller pieces of cardboard. The on/off button is large and easily depressed, even with sloppy painted fingers. The 7 paint bottle nest neatly into the receiving oval depressions for quick organization. A small drawer holds the cardboard, the crayons and the brush. The clear plastic splash guard is held in place atop the main body and is retained by several cast in dogs that engage the recesses on the splash guard. It may be a good idea to use a little masking or cellophane tape to adequately secure the guard. A casual bump may dislodge it and either ruin your masterpiece or the surrounding surface with spun-off paint. When loaded with a cardboard, the machine slowly starts and gradually achieves full RPM, which is substantial. We wish there was an option to slow the speed down for more control of the media. If desired, you can switch the machine off and apply paint as the RPMs slow down. This will allow some additional spin patterns dictated by the speed. The included brush allows for more creativity with judicious use if spinning. Be aware that the plastic plate will not support much pressure, so a deft touch is required. We are not convinced that the white oil pastels are necessary. It will be a challenge to apply them under power without deforming the base plate. Perhaps the manufacturer intends them to be used as a release agent applied prior to spinning. Dunno. The criticism of this toy relates to the media supplied. The paints are fine, though the "gold" color is hardly "pretty." and looks more like the brown residue that you will have at the end of the session when all the colors are flung to the outer edge of the base. This muddy brown paint can be reused, but it is hardly attractive. The same holds true for the "gold" color. The primary colors (red, yellow and blue) can be combined to create the other colors that are essential. We wish there were larger amounts of these 3 colors. The 2 bottles of glitter (silver and gold) are a fun addition to the arsenal of paint. As far as the cardboard supplied to receive the paint, the surface of the pieces have a sheen, one side more so than the other. We trust this is intended to allow the paint to slide across the surface under RPMs. Our concern is that the tooth of the cardboard won't be sufficient to hold the paint long term. You might want to try experimenting with other types and weights of drawing and water color paper. Naturally, any type of cardboard can be used within reason. We expect a fun art session with some creative input. Don’t forget to experiment with other media, like crayons, color pencils and other paints. A dull hard tool like a dull pencil or broken toothpick can add dimension to the applied paint as well. Have fun! ... show more

This spin art machine is a great art kit to have on hand for my girls to enjoy. I'm not giving it five stars because it is a little finicky to use. You have to make sure you're using the correct side of the included papers or the paint slides everywhere (there's a shiny side that you don't want to use). The plastic splash guard is flimsy plastic and the paint doesn't stay contained inside of it. Once you embrace the chaos of the mess that will happen, it is fun for the kids! ... show more
