For an avid painter, I'm not sure how good these would be. I paint here and there and have only run into one thing so far. That being said though, I've also only painting 3 canvases and had this happen, so take with that what you will. After my second painting, the #2 large brush came detached from the handle, its very fixable, so not a huge deal to me, but it does hint at the quality. I'd say the quality is average, but nothing special. I'm content with mine overall. The bristles hold the paint well and have a solid stroke to them. ... show more

It looks like a much more expensive set. It's really nice and comes on a nice case inside of a nice box. It's for my friends Christmas so I can't tell how he'll like the actual brushes but there is a nice variety of brushes that I think he'll love!
