Description

QIGONG EXERCISES CAN HELP HEAL AND PREVENT ARTHRITISIt is likely that 1 out of 7 of us will be afflicted with arthritis in our lifetime. Healthy joints are the key to pain-free movement, and qigong can help to promote healthy joints.Although Western medicine has made great progress in treating Arthritis, it has limited success in actually healing it; rather focusing more on relieving pain and inflammation.Over the past four thousand years, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has developed many methods to treat arthritis, including qigong exercises, acupuncture, massage, and herbal treatments. By doing qigong exercises, you can effectively treat many types of arthritis and rebuild the strength of your joints, which is the root of true healing. This book introduces qigong exercises that have been successfully used in China to treat arthritis. It begins with general concepts of Qigong, a summary of arthritis according to both Western and Eastern medicine, an explanation of how qigong treats arthritis, and finally gentle qigong exercises you can use to help prevent, treat and heal arthritis. • Excellent Information, and the Practice Really Works!
My husband has been practicing QiGong for many years, but never really focused the practice on a recent development of arthritis in his wrist. (He has done construction work for 40 years and it was taking its toll on his right wrist.) After practicing the specific exercises for getting the energy to flow in his wrist, the issue has completely disappeared. The beginning of the book talks about how Qi works in the body and provides excellent information as a foundation for understanding the practice. ... show more

  • Another A+
All of the books in this series are excellently written by a true master of the art. What makes Dr Yang's books stand out is his scientific Western educated outlook with which he explains the sometimes culturally fogged Eastern understanding. Although directed towards a specific audience the book serves well as an introduction into the basic concepts of Qi. ... show more

  • A good read for anyone interested in dealing with arthritis using Qigong.
As someone who has been teaching Tai Chi and Qigong for more than ten years I am always seeking new or unique material to read on those topics. When I saw this 183 page soft cover book (Arthritis Relief: Chinese Qigong for healing and prevention by Dr.Yang, Jwing-Ming 3rd edition) on Amazon for a bargain price I immediately purchased it. First off, this is not a book for beginners even though the Qigong exercises shown are not difficult to learn and practice. This book explains in great detail the many aspects of Qigong principles and philosophy but without some experience practicing Qigong a person new to the art of Qigong could get lost. The focus of this book is using Qigong to deal with arthritis issues. The five very detailed chapters cover the following material: Qi, Qigong and man, the history of Qigong, categories of Qigong, Qigong training theory, how to use this book, what is arthritis, the structure of the joints, different forms of arthritis and related disorders, causes of arthritis, other possible means of preventing or curing arthritis, general Chinese treatments for arthritis, how can Qigong cure arthritis? Qigong for strengthening the internal organs, massage and cavity press (acupressure), Qigong exercises for arthritis, conclusion and a translation and glossary of Chinese terms. If you are seeking to learn Qigong to possibly help your arthritis problems this book has many practical tips; however, it is always best to learn the basics of Qigong from a teacher along with reading this book. Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi, Qigong, and Yoga stretching for seniors and the physically challenged). ... show more

  • Comprehensive, helpful, and fascinating
This book provided helpful exercises and a wealth of background information to support them. So much of Qigong depends on really understanding the underlying concepts. This book presents these underlying concepts in a very comprehensive, but easy-to-read and fascinating way. If you are serious about Qigong this book with help you make great strides forward in your practice. ... show more

  • Explanations simples and clear! Very good
It explains simple and clear the basis and goes to the exercises in a progressive, good for review anytime I have a little question!

  • Okay -- but not really what I was looking for
On the upside -- this book seems well-written, very thorough, and encouraging in tone. Were I especially interested in Chinese medicine, its history, and its current practice, I'd probably have enjoyed this book. But, what I was really hoping for was more along the lines of practical advice for coping with arthritis pain, plus lots of information and illustrations on exercises that were specifically going to help alleviate arthritis pain and stiffness. While part of the book is devoted to this type of information, two-thirds of it is not. If it weren't a Kindle book, I'd return it. I'm really disappointed in it. ... show more
