  • Missing left channel....
1st review: The left channel is non-working so a replacement is on order. The volume is significantly lower than the car radio's FM which is problematic when this Bluetooth cassette is ejected. The star rating will be modified after the replacement arrives. Updated 2nd review: The replacement unit functions properly although I was a bit confused pairing the unit with my phone as the device NAME for defective unit and new are identical... Bluetooth wise they are quite different... Sound quality is perfect for new unit. 5☆'s for sure. AND the sound level is better adjusted such that ejecting cassette doesn't result in blast from tuned in f.m. station. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good!
I bought the device to connect my old auto audio system via bluetooth. My expectations were not very high considering the alternative was to upgrade the radio for additional hundreds of dollars. Much to my surprise the device was uncomplicated, worked well, and the sound quality was good, not great. Considering the very low price for the wireless casette receiver, I am very happy with the results and would highly recommend the product. The only negative comment I can make is the device requires reengagement after each engine turn off. ... show more

  • Possibly the best mixtape ever
Like the title says, it’s quite possibly the best mixtape one can have. It does have noticeable noise when first playing it (annoying at first admittedly but given the product, you win some, you lose some) but it quiets down after a moment or two. It’s still noticeable enough but for those that aren’t too fussy like myself, I’m not going to complain. Moving on to the Bluetooth aspect, it’s like any other Bluetooth device one would have: press the button, pair with your phone/tablet, and slide it into your cassette deck, hit the play button, and then start playing the source. Whatever your playing, be it music, podcasts, audiobooks, does depend on what the BT cassette is playing in. Those of us who remember having/seeing/envying the old school component audio systems from the late 70s through the early 90s (general ballpark era) would probably have the best reproduction of audio from this going down to the more generic “boomboxes” of the modern era would probably be missing out. Charging isn’t bad, hour or two from full dead to full charge isn’t terrible and the battery does last a while. Haven’t tested it fully to see how long it lasts but for a couple of hours here and there, it’s not bad. Best of all, if you do have some classic blank cassettes and a stereo system, you could mix and match items from your phone and relive the simple joy of making mix tapes to enjoy again. ... show more

  • Bluetooth was non-functional even after in depth troubleshooting. Returned.
I really love the idea of a Bluetooth cassette adapter after years of using an old-school wired cassette adapter. Then I got a new phone and they no longer put stereo headphone jacks on. Was really hoping this Bluetooth adapter would be perfect, but it would not broadcast a signal to pair with. The lights seem to blink in the expected pattern for pairing, but no devices would detect it. Amazon easily accepted a return/replacement, but then days went by without a replacement being sent and eventually it said they didn't know when a replacement would be sent so I just refunded and bought a different product. Ultimately, I chose a Bluetooth FM Transmitter which also had USB charging ports and was about the same price, so that was the better option anyway with more functionality. Since I never received a replacement, I can't really say whether I just got a bad one, or if the product is just faulty in general. I wouldn't be able to recommend this based on my experience. ... show more

  • Impressive for what it is
I have been using this unit for awhile so this is a 'been living with it' test review if you will. A few niggles that I can report. I found my tape deck doesn't always engage it when inserted with the power button to the front, flipping it over however and inserting it with the power button to the rear always works so I use it like that. Sometimes it doesn't seat well and is noisy. I kick it out and reinsert to solve that. Once you get past those niggles this thing is a gem. Audio quality is very good and it pairs easily and repeatedly using Bluetooth. My units battery seems to last forever. I haven't had it do dead on me after months of use. I think I have charged it twice 'just because'. It doesn't really have a battery level indicator so you never know. I think it's a great little device and I've tried a lot of different methods to easily get audio into the stock head unit. This has been the best method by far. ... show more

  • Sounds fantastic- I was shocked
Just bought a 1993 car. It has a tape player and I tried a wired cassette to interface my iPhone to the car’s stereo. The wired version sounded terrible. This Bluetooth device sounds great. I didn’t like the noise from the mechanical gears turning so I followed the directions from another product review - removed drive gears in this device. PERFECT. ... show more

  • Works but colors the audio
I was initially satisfied with performance. It’s amazing to be able to add Bluetooth connectivity to an old tape deck, for lme it’s the OE Bose system in a 1996 Mercedes W140 aka big body Benz. The volume could jump around a bit. Sometime it seemed to send twice the signal to the sub and the highs could be exaggerated. If I used my finger to move the cassette around I could change the frequency response drastically. It gets pretty good life out of a charge. I took it inside to charge and lost it for a week. I ordered a different brand adapter from Amazon and that’s when I really heard the difference. The other brand adapter sounds normal and had none of the issues with frequency boosts and doesn’t change when poked at in the player. I possibly got a damaged unit and am experiencing atypical behavior from it but based on my experience I would choose the other brand if I do it again. Unfortunately I missed the return window for this one. For the money, I’d say there is better value than this brand/model. ... show more
