  • Thing is fast. 10x better than the ASUS which I tried and returned,
Make sure DNS is set to auto. Custom DNS using SMARTDns at the router did cause occasional disconnects. Once I went auto and just use SMARTDns from PC, works fine. Not sure why the bad reviews. I have COX Gigsablast. ROutinely around 875 to 900 Mbps at Main Router and usually show 8 to 1 Gbps between main router and each node. on two nodes. ... show more

  • You lose control of network and gain nothing in speed
First off, I have a tech background so my expectations may be different than others who buy this. I purchased the W31 to take over router capabilities on my gigabit xFinity internet service. I have the Samsung S10+ which has ax WiFi and I have the X570 motherboard and AMD R7 3700X for my desktop so both my clients in this review are fully 802.11ax compliant and fully compatible. On the W31 functionality- the setup is very smooth and well done with the app which brings up my biggest gripe and the reason for the poor rating. As a caveat, if you want a "set it and forget it" solution then this is great for you unless you are expecting some major speed improvements over your existing 802.11ac network, The APP is all you get. That's it. There is no web page to access the detailed settings. You have absolutely no access to or the ability to change the WiFi channels or remove the consolidated 2.4 and 5Ghz channels. You also cannot kick a device off your network, you lose all control except to create the network name. In terms of performance I experienced a considerable drop in speed. My xFinity network is split in to 2.4 and 5Ghz networks and I consistently achieve over 600Mbs on my desktop WiFi. On the consolidated W31 network and with a variety of different adapter configurations but never hit over 300 Mbs over a 3 week period with the W31 as my only router. The minute I removed the W31 and went back to my XB6 xFinity router I was again hitting 600Mbs and over consistently. I did not test this on ethernet. For me, the loss of all ability to configure any of the crucial elements of this router and the loss of the ability to directly control what devices were on my network in real time created a low score for this. I really feel that these manufacturers need to allow those who want that detailed control to be able to do that. But with the issues of a loss of WiFi speed too, there is no reason for me to ever use this router again. ... show more

  • Great product? Mixed set up experience
I purchased a two node version for my home and a three node version for my Florida House. The set up on my home unit was plug-and-play, I plugged it in Saturday and it worked flawlessly. I have a three node system at my Florida House and the set up was a pain. My son-in-law help me and I was on tech-support for 40 minutes. I was almost ready to give up on it when we finally figured out why it wasn’t setting up properly. The reason was it had a hardwired remote switch plugged in and for some reason once we Disconnected it and re-ran the set up it worked. Ever since they have been set up they have been absolutely flawless. The speed of connections is lightning fast, I have 100% signals in all portions of my homes I dont get dropped by devices anymore. I gave it 5 stars even though it was a pain to set up in one of my homes but one episode connected it exceeds expectations. I think it was a fairly new product and the documentation has been lacking. They need to improve documentation and troubleshooting. ... show more

  • NICE!
After returning my brick TP-Link AX6000 (BAD product and customer service experience), I picked this unit up as it resembled my old Google router. I like the design, and more importantly, I like the ease of set-up and the Wi-Fi performance of this product. I had it up and running within 10 minutes, and I'm getting close to 500 mbps (my service allows for a max of 500) with every Wi-Fi speed test I run throughout the day. Tinkering with the app, I have yet to find a way to prioritize a specific device, I'm hopeful that is an option. It works good, and it looks good - I'm happy. ... show more

  • Bit be flying fast ... WOW! Crazy speeds on my phone.
I wish I had splurged and opted for the 2-pack. Having that dedicated back-haul channel would allow me to have a wired ethernet in my office at the other end of the house. Right now I'm planning on pulling wires through the attic. Phone speeds .. tablet speeds .. laptop speeds .. I am impressed. I will admit that I doubted the performance gains the YouTubers were claiming. Now I'm a believer. ... show more

I had google wifi and switched to this. Coverage is amazing and internet is blazing fast everywhere around the house. Was a breeze to set up, really just plug and play.

  • Easy & Fast to set up and use.
AMAZINGLY EASY & FAST! The Arris SURFboard Max is, by far, one of the easier pieces of electronics that I have had to set up. From unboxing to connecting all devices took no time at all. The app showed all steps with pictures and directions. This product allows for us to have higher speeds of internet throughout our house and with numerous devices connected. Even the rooms that are the farthest away from the router have fantastic wifi speed. ... show more

  • Big upgrade, true gigabit speeds.
Finally true gigabit router. Get 750+ mbps from my line which probably pushes 800 to 950mbp plugged in. No longer need extender for basement either it is that much better than the wifi5 generation.
