    • A good & inexpensive way to start playing the duduk & shipping quickly
I thought I'd give the duduk a try after hearing one played at a concert. I've never played a reed instrument before (I'm mostly a flute player), so I wanted to get an inexpensive one to see if I liked playing it (or even could). Based on good reviews, I thought I'd give this one a try. The shipping window said it would take 3-6 weeks to arrive and it arrived in just one week! It came well packaged and the items were essentially what's shown in the photograph (just simpler ornamentation on the flute). The directions included were not terribly useful, but you can find what you need online. It took me a couple days to get the reeds opened just right and the correct blowing to be able to get a sound out of it, but once I did, it's been pretty fun to play. (I enjoyed having the included flute to play during that time.) If I keep at it, I'm sure I'll want a more professional one, but this has been a good inexpensive place to start with the instrument. ... show more

    • One of the most beautiful instruments
This instrument is beautiful and feels solid. The Reed does fit a bit loose, but a bit of wax (like for a saxophone) fixes that. It's going to be hard, but the sound is gorgeous.

    • Only one reed works
I was very excited for this purchase and knew it was a more challenging instrument. I opened this up, prepared a reed and gave it a shot. I got some sound out of my first attempt and took a break after a few minutes. Tried a couple more times and struggled getting even a squeak out. I assumed it was just that difficult. But then I decided to give the second reed a try and immediately got sound out if it. Can't tell what's wrong with the first one but only one gives me any sound. Can't say I'm a duduk expert, but I've been a musician for a decade, and I can see some potential in this instrument. It. IS. HARD. But I like the challenge. My only gripe would be the fact that the mouthpiece doesn't stay snugly in the body of the instrument.

    • Reed Base fit could use improvement.
This Duduk is wonderful, however, the reeds base does not fit smoothly and securely. It wobbles in place and comes out too easily. I am thinking that maybe something was miss matched or not enough care was taken in the wrapping of string on the reed base in order to allow for a good secure fit. I would like to know the best remedy for this problem ? Any suggestions ? ... show more

I don't own a nice Duduk, and before today, never ever played one. But I can say that after receiving this starter instrument, I spent all of 10 minutes figuring out how it worked with the help of some YouTube videos before I was able to play the Lullaby from Narnia. Absolutely brilliant product, the sound beautiful, but I have no use for the small flute as I personally can’t figure out how to play it. But unfortunately my own duduk was somewhat off in pitch. I couldn’t play the basic A scale no matter how much I searched and changed my ambiture and my fingering methods. Maybe it was the reed, I just hope it isn’t the instrument itself. Very nice instrument with a beautiful sound. Arrived quickly and well packaged. This was a present for my son, he loved it and within few days was playing amazing grace (after watching a few you tube instructional videos).
