  • Perfect Fit for Our Animal Rescue
I recently had the opportunity to build the Arlington 12 ft. x 20 ft. Wood Storage Shed Kit for a local non-profit organization that works with rescue animals. We needed a storage solution for various supplies, from pet food to cleaning materials, and this shed seemed like a perfect fit. Strengths: Spacious & Sturdy Design: This shed offers a generous amount of space—12 feet by 20 feet—which is perfect for our needs. We store large bags of food, supplies, and even some larger equipment like kennels and animal beds. The structure itself is sturdy and built to last. The wood framing gives it a robust feel, and we are confident it will hold up well over time. Easy Assembly: Despite its size, the shed was relatively easy to put together. The kit came with all the necessary parts and clear instructions, which made the process smoother. It took a team of four volunteers about two days to assemble it, though it might take longer if you're new to construction. If you take your time and follow the steps, you'll have a solid result. Customizable: We love that we were able to customize the shed to our specific needs. We installed extra shelving on the inside, which maximized storage space. The window placement allowed for natural light to pour in, which makes a huge difference when organizing and grabbing items. Aesthetic Appeal: The wood design of the shed blends well with the outdoor environment. It doesn’t just function as a storage unit; it looks like a part of the landscape, adding a rustic charm to our animal rescue site. Weaknesses: Assembly Can Be Challenging: While I mentioned the easy assembly, I should note that if you’re not familiar with building kits, it can be a bit tricky at first. We had to make sure all the parts were aligned correctly to avoid issues later on. A few pieces weren’t labeled as clearly as we hoped, and there was a bit of trial and error with some of the fittings. Requires Regular Maintenance: As with any wood structure, this shed will need some ongoing maintenance. We’ll need to repaint and reseal the wood periodically to prevent rot, especially since we are located in an area with frequent rain. This adds some maintenance time, but it's a small price to pay for durability. Heavy: The shed is fairly heavy, and while the design makes it sturdy, it can be difficult to move around once built. If you plan to relocate the shed, you might need professional assistance or special equipment. Best Results: Tips & Tools for Assembly To ensure you get the best results from the Arlington 12 ft. x 20 ft. Wood Storage Shed Kit, here are a few key tips and tools that helped us during the build: 1. Prepare Your Site: Level Foundation: Start by preparing a level foundation. This is critical to ensure your shed will stand straight and secure. Use gravel or a concrete slab as a solid base, and consider using a level tool to make sure the ground is perfectly even. Tools Needed: Shovel, level, tape measure, and either gravel or concrete blocks. 2. Organize Your Materials: Before starting the assembly, make sure to unpack and organize the kit components in an open area. Lay out the parts in the order you will need them to avoid wasting time looking for pieces later. Tools Needed: Tape measure, storage bins for organizing screws/nuts. 3. Use the Right Tools for the Job: Having the correct tools will make the assembly much smoother. We used a variety of hand and power tools to make the job easier. Electric Drill/Driver: Essential for driving screws into the wood and assembling the frame. Make sure to have a variety of bits for different screw sizes. Circular Saw: While the kit comes with pre-cut parts, if you need to trim any pieces or adjust dimensions, a circular saw will help you achieve clean cuts. Hammer: For any nails and securing smaller parts. Level: A must to ensure each part of the shed is aligned properly during assembly. Measuring Tape: Accurate measurements are key to making sure everything fits together. Clamps: Useful for holding parts in place while you screw or nail them together. Safety Gear: Don’t forget safety glasses and gloves to protect your eyes and hands. 4. Follow the Instructions Carefully: While the instructions are fairly clear, it’s important to read through them completely before starting. This will help you anticipate any tricky spots and avoid errors in assembly. Tip: If you hit a roadblock, take a break and reassess. Sometimes the simplest mistakes are made when rushing through steps. 5. Get Help: The shed is large, and having a couple of extra hands will make the job easier. Two or more people are ideal to help hold pieces steady while you secure them. Tip: Have someone work as the “assistant” to hand you the tools and keep the assembly moving smoothly. 6. Customer Support: If you encounter issues with missing or damaged parts, don’t hesitate to contact customer support. The team was incredibly helpful when we had a few misaligned parts, and they quickly sent replacements. Tip: Always check the parts list before starting the build to ensure you have everything. Assistance with Troubleshooting: The assembly was mostly straightforward, but there were a few areas where we could have used a bit more assistance. Fortunately, customer support was incredibly responsive. When we encountered a part that didn’t seem to fit correctly, a quick call to the manufacturer’s helpline had us on the right track within minutes. They also sent us a replacement part when we realized we had a defective piece—great customer service! For anyone else assembling this shed, I highly recommend reviewing the instructions thoroughly before starting and ensuring you have all your tools and parts laid out ahead of time. If you’re unsure about any step, reach out for assistance—don’t try to force parts together, as that can cause bigger issues down the line. Benefits to a Non-Profit Working with Animals: For a non-profit like ours, this shed is a game-changer. It provides us with a safe and dry space to store all our animal supplies. It's particularly helpful in organizing our resources so that we can be more efficient when distributing food or medical supplies to foster homes and shelters. We’ve even used part of it to store donated bedding and toys for the animals, keeping them out of the elements and easily accessible. Moreover, because it’s wood, we can easily modify it as our needs change. We’re already considering adding a small section dedicated to a grooming area. The shed provides a secure location for important supplies, which is especially important for a non-profit that often operates with limited resources. Conclusion: Overall, the Arlington 12 ft. x 20 ft. Wood Storage Shed Kit has been a great addition to our animal rescue facility. Despite a few small challenges during assembly and maintenance, the shed provides a durable, spacious, and customizable storage solution that is perfect for our needs. Whether you're a non-profit, animal rescue, or simply someone in need of additional outdoor storage, this shed is definitely worth considering! With the right tools, a bit of assistance, and a few helpful tips, you’ll have a fantastic storage solution that stands the test of time. ... show more

  • It's a shed
Yes it is a shed, add a toilet, plumbing and eletrical, ect. and you have a tiny house. It doesn't say tiny house it's title says shed. I think it is a lovely product.

  • Expensive
I do not own this, not would I ever buy it. 9,000 dollars for a shed? Incredibly overpriced. You can build this easily for less than a third of the price. It looks good but 9000 bucks? No way

  • this is not a tiny home
this is a shed. wiring, plumbing, insulation, interior walls, kitchen and bathroom would all need to be installed before this was considered a tiny home

  • It is a SHED . . . read the listing.
For those that think an $8,500 "shed" means "tiny home" you will be disappointed. Advertised as a shed. It is a shed. Looks great; easy to assemble; exactly as advertised, i.e,. a "shed".
