Description

Our large Ivory Mystery Snails have dual benefits — they are elegantly beautiful aquarium decorations, and act as natural fish tank clearers! They consume uneaten fish food, biofilm, and they reduce the need for an aquarium conditioner or UV aquarium sterilizer because they clear off glass, aquatic plants, and aquarium decor. These peaceful snails grow up to 3 inches in diameter and are safe with any nonaggressive aquarium fish, freshwater shrimp, or aquarium plants (including Marimo Balls, dwarf hairgrass, willow moss, etc.). They look fantastic against just about any fish tank background and with a wide variety of decor, including faux jellyfish aquarium decorations! Ivory White Mystery Snails' shells are a striking cream color. Their bodies are white with breathtaking iridescent markings. Compared to other freshwater snails, Mystery Snails are characteristically more active and can often be found scaling aquarium walls, extending their antennae in search of food, and climbing up the aquarium filter tube to the water line to breathe oxygen. Because of this, ensure the water line in your aquarium is low enough or keep an aquarium lid in place so your snails cannot escape. We often ship smaller sized (.25 to 1.5 inches) snails so you can enjoy them longer and watch them grow. A young Mystery Snail can double in size over the course of two weeks to months. Freshwater snails such as these are sensitive to nitrates, etc., so we recommend using an aquarium test kit or aquarium reader and consider buying an ammonia, nitrite, and/or nitrate remover aquarium treatment.CARE GUIDELINES:- Temperature: 68° - 84° F (20° - 29° C) - pH: 7.6 - 8.4 - KH: 2 - 15 dKH - Minimum tank size: 2.5 gallons per snail - Average adult size: 2.5 - 3+ inches (5 - 7.6+ cm) - Average purchase size: .25 - 1.5 inches (1.3 - 5 cm)

  • Active and Healthy
Style: 3-SNAILS
Ordered 3, received 4. Clear easy to follow acclimatization instructions. After they got over their stress period they've been active and are fun to watch go about their snail business.

  • I LOVE them!
Style: 3-SNAILS
I saw some negative reviews about them being dead on arrival - so when mine arrived I thought they were dead or going to die. So I went online and asked "how can I revive?" "how long can they be dry?" and found out a lot about these beauties - they can go 5 days completely dry - mine were well packed in a container with a lightly damp cloth - it wasn't 5 days since I'd ordered them. They seal themselves in with the hard foot and it looks dry, they need time to hydrate and they need to eat something to get their energy. Then they are absolutely the most interesting creatures I've ever seen and gorgeous. Oh and I ordered 3 but got 3 large and one small - BONUS!!! Some of the reviews I indicate that they didn't research and instead threw away their gorgeous little babies in the trash because they didn't know better. Very very sad. ... show more

It arrived today sooner than expected. Great size. I like mystery snails because they won’t eat my plants.

  • Healthy and strong lil buddies for your aquarium!
I'll point out now that my mystery snail wasn't the bone-white color you see in the picture, but a peach - still very pale and not as boldly colored as golden, but not a snail I'll call Snow White. My snail popped out of his shell in less than 15 minutes of setting his bag in the water to acclimate. Shell showed no lack of calcium and it grew quickly in my limestone water. I ended up calling my snail Cthulhu after watching him ethereally "warble" across the surface of a marimo ball, only to get to one side, roll the ball over, fall down, and come back out of his shell one eye and antennae at a time. I had Cthulhu for 3 months until I dumbly forgot the infamous relation between snails and salt when I was treating ich in my new tank. Don't be like me. I miss watching him cruise around. Once I get a million other things halfway done I'll be picking up a new Cthulhu, and friends. They are a hoot to watch and your fish will enjoy the company. ... show more

  • Lost him : (
Style: 1-SNAIL
My little guy grew and lasted several weeks but I didn't know I was supposed to feed him : ( I thought he got his nutrients from the aquarium substrate. Clear instructions on when, how, and what to feed the Mystery Snails would be great for ignorant pet parents like me.

  • Every snail is created equal.
Well it's is doing very well. Activity level is increasing every day as it figures out its new home. If you get a white one, don't expect it to be pure white like in the picture. Mine's shell is black at the beginning (when it was younger) and has turned more into a pale yellow. It's body/foot is also yellow not white like in the picture. But, its still a fun snail to watch. I wouldn't discriminate against him/her just because of the color of its shell :) So, I want to keep it. I just don't want anyone else to feel let down by the interesting little guy/gal. ... show more

  • Wonderful pets, and very hardy!
Style: 3-SNAILS
Got three of these little guys late March, they came in very nice and secure packaging. After about 20 minutes of acclimating, they became very active and have been amazing additions to my 10 gallon tank! They grew very quickly and continue to be active! I ordered these early on in the year, where it gets very hot after the first few months. I recommend paying attention to how your climate will effect the delivery of these little guys, the suppliers can only prevent so much. The snails are also very hardy, they have survived 48 hours of living in a tub filled with bottled water, and bounced right back after being placed into their tank. Overall, wonderful product! ... show more
