Bought this to manage runoff water from some of my plant saucers and it works well. I drilled a drain hole in each saucer and plumbed vinyl tubing into the holes. Each tube runs to a 1/2” mainline which connects to the reservoir adapter provided. I really love that the reservoir is separate from the pump because it creates a ton of flexibility and it allows a setup that doesn’t have standing water in the plant saucers or anywhere else. I have pump outside the growing enclosure and reservoir inside. Reservoir is quite small but that works well for me and the whole setup works flawlessly. My only complaint is the pump is hypersensitive to debris. There is a screen in the reservoir but that screen allows clogging particles through to the pump. I solved by shoving some cheesecloth into each saucer drain. Pump is relatively fiddly to open up (4 screws) and unclog but very doable with some care. Runs perfectly now. ... show more

I added this to an older portable AC/heat pump because i didn’t want to drill a hole through my floor for continuous drain. I really like the performance but the pump stopped siphoning within 1 day and water overflowed out of the reservoir vent tube all over the floor. I contacted Aquastrong and they were awesome. they sent me a new one after providing evidence of the failure. My new one had the same issue so then i wondered if it was getting clogged. I had seen some debris (dust that washes off the evap to the drain pan). I’m an electronic tech & product designer for automotive electronics so i opened the pump and yep it was clogged. The siphoning holes in the pump are smaller than the filter screen in the reservoir so it takes very little to clog it. the easiest solution would be to have a finer mesh filter screen which i may try to create myself. also there should be a float/flapper that closes the vent tube if the pump fails and water wants to build. wiring to float switch to shut off the AC is the solution by its quite difficult for this portable unit. Maybe I’ll wire it to a short extension cable or something as a fail safe. So, make sure your unit is SUPER clean or figure out some intermediate filter solution. I would buy again if a better design isn’t available within $10 of this price. It’s far less expensive than most and others in this price range seem to be the same pump in a different color housing. ... show more

For some configurations this will work okay, but in practice the pump is weaker than they advertise, the plumbing connections within the kit were impossible to get leak tight with just the supplied kit, and nost importantly the installation manual lacks important details, particularly around wiring the safety signal. In my case there was no way to get a signal from the AC for this safety, and there was no specifications provided on the signal needed so I had to guess, guessed wrong, and fried my pump. ... show more
