Easily packable and performs its function of filtering water extremely well and accurately. I recommend it for anyone who wants a water filter that doesn't require a separate pump/hose. The added tool to screw the bottle onto another water bottle to refill is an excellent feature and highly, highly useful. Small negatives - the mouthpiece is poor quality. If you pull it open with any force it pops off entirely. You can slide it back on but its annoying to have to pay attention and be cautious with. The collapsible nature of the bottle/bag does make it a little more challenging to drink out of than a standard water bottle but that's a small price to pay for clean water. ... show more

So some of my friends that I have started camping with this past year have been talking to me about getting some backpacking trips in, and one of the most essential items they said I needed to get was something that could reliably filter water for whenever we come across a water source while backpacking. Because of that and so that I could be prepared for whenever we do go do that, I decided to spring for this water filter kit, and I am quite impressed with everything that it has to offer. There's a lot of customization that comes with it, and if I included pictures for every combination that you could do with it, there would likely simply be too many. While on a fishing trip to Colorado, we were camping and fishing in a pretty remote area. I went to fill my bag with water from the stream and lost my grip on the bag and ended up losing it down stream. I messaged Danny the owner about purchasing a new bag. At this point in time they are not set up to produce extra bags. He had an extra bag laying around in his office and sent it to me at NO CHARGE! The day hiker is a great product! This is needlessly complex, with a disappointly slow flow rate. I much prefer a Sawyer Squeeze and a Smartwater bottle for hiking, with chlorine dioxide tablets as backups for emergencies.
