  • Great Quality Sand at an Affordable Price!
This sand was an excellent value compared to more expensive "craft" sand options. I used it for mason jar centerpieces, and it worked perfectly for my project. While I noticed some reviews mentioned the sand being dusty, I didn’t experience any issues with that at all. Overall, it’s a fantastic choice for decorative uses! ... show more

I love this stuff!! I used it to cover my 3 gal mini tank, and it looks stunning! Shines in the light and everything, I am extremely happy with this. I just wish It was a tad cheaper, I would loove to do my 60 gal tank also . ❤️ If your looking for a good pre washed sand for your aquarium, this is definitely the one for you .. ... show more

  • Arrived broken but still very happy with the purchase
Purchased with several other things, annddddddd the bag had a huge gash in the front. Spilled all over the contents of the box, and all over my porch, and probably the amazon guys truck. But it's okay cause they sent me a new bag at no cost. Moving on, I purchased this after buying some kuhli loaches, and learning only after I bought them that they like to burrow! I had a bunch of gravel and that just wouldn't suffice. So I got this to create kinda a "half kuhli" side where they can feel safe to burrow. It's not as black as I wanted it, it's kinda a grey-black-brownish. I realized only after I bought it's called galaxy and they actually do, in fact, have one that's just black. But either way, this one is still nice! It's pretty, it sparkles a little bit under the water. My kuhlis, and even the cuckoo catfish, seem to love it. I didn't rinse it before dumping it in my tank.. I probably should have because it clouded up my water real bad. I ended up doing a partial water change but by the next day it was crystal clear again. All my fish were fine. All in all, I'd buy this again. I think 10 pounds is a good amount for the price. It gets sucked up by my vacuum hose which is mildly irritating, but I think you're always going to have that with any kind of gravel. ... show more

  • Made tank cloudy at first, looks good now
This gravel gave me a rough go of it. I was eager to get it in the tank, so I gave it a quick rinse and put it in. Boy was that a mistake. The water clouded up immediately and looked like the pic. I had fish waiting to go back in their tank, so I scrambled and washed the sand while in the tank just stirring it up with my hand after draining the water, and then rinsed it again in the tank and it’s now mostly clear and looks great at the bottom of my tank. I would recommend this sand, but be sure to WASH IT WELL!!!! and expect it to cloud for the first couple days. ... show more

  • Good quality aquarium substrate
The media could not be loaded. I really have no complaints about this sand. It looks great in my aquarium, I've used both black and white sands and they both are great. The grain size is ideal for amphibians and I've had no issues. You don't need to wash it and it settles very quickly in the aquarium 1-2 days max. My only issue is that it's a bit difficult to clean but honestly, given how quickly it settles, really getting in there to try to get all the gunk out will not overly disturb your tank. Recommend to fish keepers who don't want to be frustrated. ... show more

  • Rinse rinse rinse!
I love this sand but you have to rinse a good amount ( I rinsed about 10x) to make sure you don’t get cloudy water. I rinsed maybe 1-2 times the first time I set up my bowl and it was a mess. So I broke it all down and started over. Second time was a charm. So rinse well until the water runs clear. I used a large bucket. I scooped the sand I was gonna use into the bucket and I filled it with water. When I could see sediment gathering on the top I’d tip the bucket and refill it with water. I did this until no more sediment was collecting. The quality of the sand is great in my opinion. I have this in a few tanks and I clean with a Turkey blaster. Very easy . ... show more

  • DO NOT buy this sand.
So I purchased this sand for our new aquarium. As usual i rinsed the sand before adding to our tank. I was rinsing and rinsing and a lot of black run off came out and i was shocked at how much the water i used to rinse had turned black!!! I then added the sand to our 29 gallon aquarium and filled it with water. AND STILL AFTER 15 minutes of rinsing The water in the aquarium was stained black!!! I even let it “settle” for 6 hours and the water looked like old dirty paint water. It was disgusting. So I then drained all 29 gallons of water and realized the beautiful black sand was a yucky brown color. I do not recommend buying this. I would not recommend this to anyone and i definitely will not be purchasing this again. I had to completely drain my aquarium a second time because the water was still grey tinged and dirty looking. I completely removed the sand and threw it away. 90 gallons of water later i finally have my aquarium setting up. ... show more
