The looks are just amazing. I am putting this review based on this specific product. However, I have few tips for future buyers. - I am having to watch for kids not to through anything towards it as it might get tangled. Fixing it is not an easy task and if you don't have easy access, it's a hassle. Honestly, I would choose another type of product especially if you have kids. - Installation: I have read few folks talking about going up the ladder multiple times. No mention of the support needed upfront as this product is heavy and you want to make sure it's safe. Here is my recommendation for safety and ease of install. * You need to make sure the base is anchored to the studs. If you are not hitting the studs using all four bolts, you might need some support through the attic. In my case, I ended up adding some 2x6 box in the attic where the all bolts can be anchored to. * DO NOT use a ladder. It's not the safest option. You also will have to make close to 200 trips up and down the ladder. Instead, go to your local homedepot and rent a scaffold for a day for $100. Once you ahve it setup, the installation will be much easier and a lot safer than using a ladder. * In terms of the sequence, before you install each string, make sure to attach the crystal piece first. This keeps the string straight and more stable. * Of course before you install any string, you will need to test all the lights are working first as it will be impossible to fix any connection issues once you have it all setup. ... show more

    • Difficult to install, but gorgeous!

This chandelier is really beautiful, however, as other buyers have noted, the installation is difficult and time consuming. The directions seem unclear when you first start, almost like they are incomplete, but once you get going, it makes sense. It took two of us about 8+ hours to install, and about 300 trips up and down the ladder. The biggest piece of advice I can offer is do not let the strings get tangled one bit. Untangling several of them cost us at least an extra hour or two. Overall I think the end result was worth it, but then again, I wasn’t the one going up and down the ladder. ... show more

First about these type of chandeliers in general: These suckers are heavy. Make sure you have a sturdy ladder and give your self two days to get a hanging crystal chandelier installed. You are going to make hundreds of trips up and down the ladder. Each strand needs to be installed by it self. I tried carrying 4 up the ladder and it was such a tangled mess that I carried them all down again. For the rest of the strands I carried them up one at a time. Speaking of tangling, do not install near a source of wind, like a front door, window or HVAC vent. Mine got tangled once it was installed and it was not easy to untangle. Good luck replacing the bulbs if they burn out. There are too many strands in the way. Figure out a fast method to hook the crystal to the strand. Again, you will do this hundreds of times. It is helpful to have three hands. The rest of the install it is not useful to have more than one person because only one person can be on the ladder. Ahead of time, think about where you will place the ladder. I had mine directly below the mount when I was installing the "base". The base is heavy and you will not be able to hold it off center of the ladder. So I suggest placing the ladder directly below to start and then move it to one side when starting to hang the strands. I could not reach all the way around to hang strands so I basically did one side, moved the ladder to the other side, and then hung the rest of the strands. It was a pain in the butt. Second, comments about this brand: Do not use the cotton gloves included. I started using them but they are so slippery that it was dangerous using them. I took them off and then I could grip again. I cleaned the base after I had mounted it to the ceiling and I used the gloves for that. Do not wear them! I spent a lot of my time untangling the strands. Even though the strands are packed just two to a package they were still tangled and it takes a long time to untangle. The instructions are not good. Really just a general overview. They did not mention several things like the size of the drill bit to use on the dry wall fasteners. I checked and thought it was a 3/8 bit. It was not. Once I tried to tighten the screw into the anchors, the anchors just spun in the sheetrock. So that whole thing was a waste of time. They include extra crystals, like 4 of each type. I only had one that was damaged and I think it happened at the factory and they sent it anyway. These are packed so well that I cannot see how the damage occurred in shipping. No big deal - I just used one of the extras. The photos show the old one, which was useless, and then this new one. It is a BIG difference and I am glad I did it! ... show more

I purchased this light after my first one caught fire and it was the same brand as this one! I paid to have it professionally installed after the first one caught fire. 4 months later it caught fire again!!!! I could not believe it! As beautiful as this light is do not buy it!
