  • Great arm for heavier mics!
There are tons of microphone boom arms out there at various price points. If you have the money to spare, there are some great but rather expensive ones out there that will satisfy you. On the other hand, the cheaper ones for the most part are really flimsy and it's quite concerning to use them, especially if you have a heavy or expensive mic. However, even though this particular one is on the cheaper side, it is built extremely well, quite sturdy and capable of supporting heavier mics like the Blue Yeti. Apart from the boom arm itself, the box also comes with an extra thread bolt (for specific mics/mounting styles) and some handy little cable ties as well for clean cable management. I have this for a little over a year now. It previously held my Blue Yeti and currently I have my HyperX Quadcast mic on it. The blue yeti was perfect on the stand, and I had no issues with positioning it or moving it around. However, now that I have switched to the Hyperx Quadcast, I started noticing that the main joint of the arm and the spring tend to go upwards a bit due to the Quadcast being much lighter. So I have just added some counter weights to make the arm stay in the position that I want. Overall, it's a solid purpose and a great bang for your buck. The only reason its not a 5/5 star is because its geared towards mics like the blue yeti and not lighter ones. ... show more

  • Holds the G-Track Pro
Got this to use with my G-Track Pro. It IS sturdy enough to hold it in any position. After two weeks, there hasn't been any sagging or movement. It stays where I put it and only moves when I want it. Metal is nice, but there are a few scratches on it. The joints are tight and springy, too, so it works really well with the heavier microphone attached. I'd go so far as to say this might be useful to hold a DSLR for overhead shots. The desk mount is really solid and has decent padding. Had to give it four stars because there was some extra work to do when I got it out of the box. I had to hand tighten the joints with a Philips head screwdriver as they were each a bit loose. Also had to use a wrench to attach my microphone mount because the metal piece it attaches to kept spinning. Also...I didn't get any velcro cable ties?? Overall, though, this is a pretty great mount. After initial setup it has been working perfectly for me. Glad I trusted the reviews on this one. It really is heavy duty! ... show more

  • Does what it needs to, but be wary with lighter mics!
It holds up my mic ok, however it does need a little bit of tweaking for it to hold without springing up. I choose to use some zipties tightened around the hinge on the arm, and it seems to work decently well. There was also some squeaking, but that can be fixed with a bit of white lithium grease. For the installation I would advise having something to protect the bottom side of your desk, as the screw in clamp will dig into anything that isn't solid(in my case it dug into my Ikea desk). I ended up installing it further away from me on top of the metal plate for my Ikea leg and there were no issues there. For the 30 bucks I spent I say its a fair price, especially if you want the "no exposed springs" look for cheap, but the fact that I had to "band-aid" fix something that should be working just fine is kind of a bummer. Overall, its textbook "you get what you pay for" and I was able to make it work for my needs. (My Mic is the Samson Q2U, fantastic mic) ... show more

  • Be careful which microphone you put it on. I get lucky I thing
Although I really like its aesthetics and for my Setup format it is what works best for me, I must say that I am disappointed that you have to put a certain weight on it. Otherwise there is no way for it to stay still. I had to put some zip ties, to leave it in the position I wanted. The base damages the desk and you must place something under it, otherwise it will end up damaging it. I'm thinking of changing it to be honest. The first one that came to me was broken, so I asked for another one thinking that was why it was not adjustable New Report: something extra happened with him. It seems that the springs have spoken, which has caused the arm to move more freely whit out the Zip Ties. He looks great now. The only detail that I find is that the base is a bit flimsy and you should put something under it so that it does not damage the desk. Change the rating from 3 stars to 4 ... show more

  • You get what you pay for, Still a good value
I bought this particular one because of how long it was and because there are no visible springs. In person you can tell it looks a little cheap, but it's honestly not bad. Because of COVID I've been doing a lot of zoom calls for work and people frequently comment about my setup looking like a professional radio studio. I attached a Rode NT-USB Mini to it, which is not super heavy, and it holds it in position just fine. When I move the arm around I can hear the springs inside creaking a bit. The one thing about this arm that does truly suck is the table clamp. The padding is so thin it might as well just not be there. The padding on the screw part of the clamp specifically wears off almost immediately because it rotates as you are clamping it to the desk, which rubs it right off the clamp. Fortunately that part is on the bottom so if it mars your desk you wont see it. I opted to put extra foam that I had on hand under the clamp, which helped a lot. ... show more

  • If this isn't the best sub $40 boom arm out there, I don't know what is
I was torn between this and the Tonor upgraded boom arm but needed something long that I could mount to the back of my very deep desktop and still have plenty of length to reach to within 6-12" from my mouth, and this does it. Great thing about this is it is nearly silent when you move it and it has enough spring tension to hold the heaviest of microphones at full extension without it sagging. The only thing I really wish it had was a tension tightener at the mid-joint. That would help for mics that are light weight; as a result, it will come up if your mic is really light. So, keep that in mind when looking at buying this. But, for any major brand name mic, it'll be heavy enough that the boom arm will work just fine. Also, I wish it came with one or two more velcro tiedowns. Trust me, you'll really like this boom arm. ... show more
