Good quality and value

  • Works well, but I do not need it for now, and so it will be in storage as a backup.
Color: With Adapter
It does the job, but I needed both the 48-volt power ability and an amplifier for the output of the microphone itself. I now have a combination unit for doing that and this particular unit is now in storage as a backup. Overall, it operates first class.

  • it does as written. supplies 48V of phantom power
Color: With Adapter
I did check the voltage of the input connection using a voltage meter. it was around 47.6 (nearly 48V) which is acceptable. But I must say if you are planning to buy this make sure the adapter is suitable for your region before purchasing. I didn't and had to buy a step-down transformer. the adapter input is 110V (AC). The adapter output is 18V (AC) and 350mA. I could have bought a normal adapter instead of a transformer. but I couldn't find an adapter that outputs AC current. as for the polarity, it's center-positive. i meant to use this to power up a condenser microphone and then connect it to my PC. at first, after plugging in my condenser microphone I couldn't hear a thing. i thought that maybe my microphone was defective. but after installing an Audio mixer software and manipulating the gain. my Voice is Clear and Well heard. i didn't encounter any buzzing sound like most of the people in the comment section. i think the buzzing sound issue might be related to loose connections or a bad audio jack. Overall I'm satisfied. ... show more

  • Just what I needed for a simple set up
Color: With Adapter
I bought a mic for the first time not realizing it expected me to have phantom power/ physical sound mixer. This was the simple solution. Plugged this in and then plugged a cable that went to usb into my computer and I was ready to go, no fiddling with knobs or buttons. Might not be ideal if you need a lot of voice control and obviously won't work if you need multi channel support, but for simple applications it's perfect, and beginner proof. ... show more

  • functional
I do live recording. My zoom 12 recorder has phantom power but it does not seem to pass through thru the splitter snake with enough amperage to work... I Purchased 2 of these to resolve and give isolation between my recording board and venue sound board. I Opted for usb powered over internal batteries and am using a 2000 miliamp power brick to power both. You can place close by and not worry about finding an outlet with this option... As to the phantom power supplies they work, a bit disappointed they were all plastic, just don't have a pro rugged feel to them. but when you're lugging gear in and out of venue ever oz adds up...still I'd prefer metal housings. ... show more

Nice and powerful small ghost power rig I use for an AKG condenser mic to record vocals. Have had it four years now and going strong.

  • It's AOK, yo
Color: With Adapter
Looks just like the more costly Nady, I didn't look inside, but it has a 18VAC wall wart which is better than some of these cheap 5VDC jobbers. After rectification this will only need a voltage doubler and regulator to provide a clean 48V, and that's what I get, unloaded, on the meter. I didn't hear any noise or anything else untoward...all it's doing is applying DC across the lines carrying your AC signal, so it probably won't hurt anything soundwise. Has a very bright blue LED (OK because it reminds you to turn it off) and a very long ramp down time when powered off. I never found these slow ramps necessary, if it was necessary, bring your mic to a tech. And yes "I'm trying to avoid going to a tech" is a retort I will ignore. And otoh you shouldn't just yank your mic out of phantom, and especially, not use a bridging patchbay with phantom. Use XLR-XLR patchbays only with mic connections and you're safe, not just your mics but everything else. ... show more
