These lights are very inexpensive and, as one would expect, they are rather cheaply made, but if you are take heed of a few things they will look decent, and they are very bright. 1) As you take it out of the box and take it apart to mount it, make sure you note well how the diffuser fits on to the metal frame. Once you get the frame mounted to the ceiling the most obvious way to put the diffuser back on is not the correct way. It needs to be pushed inside the frame. 2) You will need a few cable ties (not included) to get all the wires firmly and tightly attached to the top of the frame. If you don't do this, you will be able to see the wires when you turn the light on. 3) The decorative end caps may not fit very well, so you may have to bend them a little to snug them up. 4) Unless you have special wiring, you won't be able to dim them. If you are replacing a fluorescent, you probably don't have the correct wiring for dimmability. 5) These lights are much narrower and a little shorter than many 4' fluorescents, so if you are replacing a fluorescent, you may have to do some painting to cover the areas that are no longer covered by the new light. 6) Don't forget to take the protective plastic film off the diffuser. The LED strips don't look like they would be easy to replace (even if you could find a replacement), as they are glued in. But potentially, they should last a very long time, and should be more trouble free than a fluorescent, not to mention cheaper to operate. ... show more

It took me longer to take the old fluorescent light down than it did to install this one. The light really IS "instant on" with no flicker and nice, bright light. My wife says its not "too glarey" which means it's not a super white (high color temp) lights. The wiring holes are still sealed with knockouts so that you can keep a nice seal except for where you actually want a hole. The fixture is light enough that if your wires don't come though a box, or if the box is 90 degrees from the way you want it to mount using the holes, a drywall screw at each end is plenty secure to mount it. A previous reviewer suggested zip-ties to secure the wires in the fixture so they don't cast shadows. There aren't any provided, but there are several nice attachment points for the zip-ties I already owned. Definitely a good idea, and a few zip-ties are a couple of pennies. As you can see from my picture, the fixture is an inch or 2 narrower than the 2 tube fluorescent fixture it replaced. ... show more

I replaced a dinosaur double tube florescent fixture in my kitchen with this unit. Easy to install, light weight, modern looking and BRIGHT! Excellent value, easy to install, bright enough for a kitchen! I looked at many overhead kitchen lights and all were more money than I thought they were worth. Then I came across this light on Amazon and had to look twice that I read the price correctly. It replaces an old fluorescent fixture, and this light covers the holes left by the other fixture. This product is a JOKE, and should NEVER be for sale in the US or anywhere else because of design, safety considerations, and mounting nightmares it has given me. I am a 72 year old and have a history of home self-installations, and I haven’t killed myself yet; I went close on this one to put myself out of my misery. I plan ahead, but no amount of planning could get around the following: 1. The first instruction is that you will need a junction box, NOT SUPPLIED. 2. Grave warnings about danger of electrocution warning me to BOTH turn off any power switch and the breaker circuit. I was removing a 22 year old fluorescent fixture and if I didn’t know that by then I would have already fried myself. 3. I tested the product to ensure it worked by attaching the power before committing to the grief of installing it. It DID work, and now I had to decide what amount of time would be necessary……….. 4. This is a ceiling mounted fixture so you will be working above your head, on a ladder. The electrical connections to the power will be occurring ABOVE the fixture with the power wires either stuffed into a junction box or better still separately laid out on the top, as you mount it to the ceiling. 5. There is an absurdly poor description of the mounting arrangement with an unintelligible diagram. There is hardware provided to do this, but poorly. You will have to drill four holes in the ceiling drywall to insert wall anchors – no mention of bit size. You will have to drill 2 more holes to mount expansion screws (no bit size again or how to pound it into the drywall) for added robustness in case the 4 others fail! All this will be done above your head carefully measured for the tight tolerances. A 2 cent piece of paper template to do this should be supplied so it can be taped in place to drill the holes – NOT SUPPLIED. This is going back to the vendor for a refund and I will reinstall my old fluorescent fixture or a bare naked LED lightbulb rather than take another day out of my life with this subpar product. Both Amazon and the vendor should be embarrassed to sell such a piece of garbage emphasizing the wrong aspects of safety and installation details. ... show more
