Some of the LEDs failed to light right out of the box. Other than that, it's a neat solution. We have not yet tried to put a plate on it.

The lights seem pretty good. Brighter than I anticipated and the metal frame is solid. American motorcycle tag does not fit, tag is too wide. I'll have to rig something.
