  • Soundcore Motion+ Blows Away The Competition
Allow me to gush over the Soundcore Motion+ Bluetooth Speaker. I purchased this as a refurbished option after a year or two of considering it. I am a big Soundcore fan - having owned or gifted many of the brand's products - earbuds, soundbar, and speakers. The Motion+ has a ton to offer - 30W, USB-C, TWS, AUX in, aptX, and the excellent Soundcore App. I have several Motorola phones, Lenovo tablets and Chromebooks. They all pair to this speaker without any issues. The phones connect with Bluetooth codec - aptX HD - and let me tell you...it makes a difference. Once I went into the app and customized the equalizer into the upwards wave I was truly blown away by the output. My new "go to" song for testing is Sleep Token's "The Summoning". The bass is insane, drums have mega punch, and vocals shine beautifully. I have many other Bluetooth Speakers - and none come remotely close to the performance and features of this one including my very expensive Harman/Kardon Esquire. I've also tested it against JBL's Flip 5 and Bose's Soundlink Color II. It outperforms them in every aspect - sound quality, app control, and overall appearance. ... show more

  • Excellent Bluetooth connectivity, so-so audio quality
I've used wired speakers for most of my life. A few years ago while working overseas, I bought two tiny BT speakers for portability. Their short battery life (4-hrs) prevents me from using them, however. And their poor performance with high pitch--especially piano music. But I hate my wired speakers' cords, so for years now , I've been looking for an excellent but affordable BT alternative. Months of reading reviews led me to Sony, Bose, JBL, and Anker. For the price, the Anker Soundcore Motion+ seemed to offer the best bang for the buck. And a lot of heavy reviewers (not on Amazon...) rave about these speakers--from their power to their audio clarity. Almost ready to buy either the JBL Flip 4 (stereo) or 5 (no stereo but USB-C charging), I settled on the Anker because it had all the big things I wanted: USB-C, BT 5.0 (huuuuuuge improvement over USB 4.2), and a minimum of 10-hrs playback time at a reasonable volume of around 50% (loud enough to drown out my inconsiderate neighbors at night). When I took the Anker out of its box on first receiving it, I was impressed. It was heavy, solid. It didn't feel like a cheap toy, as many other BT speakers do. I appreciated the sturdy metal grill--again, no cheap, ugly plastic. But I cringed as, seconds after putting it down to get the other things out of the box, I noticed greasy fingerprints all over the comfortable black rubber finish. But I could live with that in exchange for the greater security the high-friction rubber brings. The machine doesn't slip out of the hands easily... And I really liked the slight up-tilt of the music playing field. Smart of Anker. Next, I tried connecting the speaker to my iPhone, my iPad, and two computers. I was stunned at how easily the connections were made. While I could only connect to two machines at a time, No combination of turning machines off or switching back and forth among machines to play ever stumped the Anker. The BT 5.0 system is LIGHT YEARS ahead of glitchy BT 4.2. I could go on and on singing BT 5.0's praises. I've even disconnected and reconnected the Anker from machines. I can't do anything to mess up the BT connection. I don't know about range as the space I use this in is small (around 350 square feet)--but so far, the BT 5.0 has sent a signal everywhere faithfully. And unlike other speaker systems close in age to the Motion+, the Anker thankfully uses USB C. I HATE USB micro. Almost enough to purposely destroy my machines that use that frustrating technology. I'll never buy another micro USB device again. Period. Charging the Anker Motion+ is almost effortless. Pick up plug; insert; done. I was sure I'd lucked out on the best BT speaker for me until, however, I tried a broad enough sampling of music. The Anker gets plenty loud. I don't need a BT speaker to wake up my next-door neighbors. If I want super loud, I use headphones. The Anker can get so loud, though, that it's painful to my ears if I'm nearby. 50%, maybe 70%, is as loud as I can tolerate it. But where the Anker fails is in its distortion at even mid-volume level. I tried listening to some piano music, but every few seconds, especially with higher notes, the Anker would crackle--like crinkling a plastic bag. I reached out to Anker support. They suggested trying different audio sources after resetting my device (they gave me the instructions). No better. I was very disappointed. Anker has offered to send me a replacement under warranty. I don't think it's a mechanical "problem," though. I think BT speakers just don't tend to be as robust as wired speakers. My Bose desktops the Anker is supposed to replace don't distort with high-register piano (or other) sounds. I hope I'm wrong. I discovered another issue with the Anker this morning as I was cleaning my kitchen. I placed the Anker on a sill at about 40% volume playing an orchestral piece. I was floored at how... flat... the sound was. I almost couldn't hear any middle range notes. I know I can use the Anker Soundcore app to alter the equalizer, but I read through Anker's privacy policy you have to agree to in order to download and use the management app, and I just can't bring myself to give yet another company that much access to my family's life. I just want a machine. I don't want to have a daily ongoing relationship with Anker. So no app for us--which means the sound quality on complex music is just--I feel guilty for writing this, but--horrible. I wouldn't listen to music I like on the Anker as it is out of the box. As I kept cleaning, I brought my Bose desktop system into the kitchen, dealt with the ugly, inconvenient wires and plugs, but when it was all done, enjoyed my music so much that I kept working long after I'd planned to stop. The Bose blew the Anker out of the water. I really-really-really wanted to love these speakers because I can't stand dealing with wires. And the Ankers have so many of the features I want in BT speakers. But the distortion at just 50% or 60% (piano) and Anker's intrusive privacy infringement requirement just to use their app that fixes (?) the muddied mid-notes problem of the out-of-the-box speakers together are deal-breakers for me. I'll see if the replacement fixes at least the distortion problem. But if I can't even listen to my favorite music b/c of the dull mid-ranges, I don't think I can keep the Anker. Any BT speaker would do as an overnight white noise speaker--which is what I'm using the Anker for now. Next stop, a much, much more expensive Bose BT set. :( ... show more

  • Seriously - you can get ANY adjustment out of this. How can you not LOVE this speaker
I never write reviews, but this needed it. Music is so personal and I'm sure you feel the same way. I spent months looking for bluetooth speaker. I felt overwhelmed with all the info, reviews, and different models. And I couldn't really get into a lot of stores to hear different models due to COVID. So I would stop looking and try again later when I had more brain power. I was finally ready to take a chance and pull the trigger on a SoundCore Motion, but then discovered the Soundcore Motion +. It had strong reviews and it's multi speaker design appealed to me. The Motion + arrived, was easy to pair and the sound clarity, depth, and range was phenomenal. Simply incredible! But — the magic for me is the Soundcore app (which I think only works on the Motion + and not the Motion). It's literally a game changer. It puts an equalizer in the palm of your hand, giving you the ability to adjust the full range of audio performance and levels from bass to treble. A lot of speaker brands claim to have big bass, but to me most of them just like loud sound pumped out under a pillow. I want bass, but not so aggressive it turns into muffled music misery. With the app, you can fully adjust the audio performance. I was able to easily get the sound to what I enjoy personally — bass where I want it and sound clarity on the high end. I'm rather eclectic and listen to everything. I don't foresee a constant need to make adjustments. I set the levels once in the app and I'm enjoying everything from dance to country to classical to audio podcasts, and more. If you want to change it depending on your music, it's easy to do. It's loud audio. It's clear audio. It's clean audio. The free Soundcore app makes it soooo adjustable. I can't imagine you won't be able to achieve the sound you want. Seriously - you can get ANY adjustment out of this. How can you not LOVE this speaker? The multiple speakers in the Motion + DO make a difference. The audio fills any space beautifully. It's absolutely awesome. This speaker completely removed any doubts about a bluetooth speaker. Wait - let me correct that. It removed any doubts about the Motion +. A couple quick things I'm discovering as I still figure it out… I like that it pairs to multiple devices. Seems to easily auto switch between my iPad and iPhone. I like that the Motion + will turn off if not in use in 30 minutes. I don't use the speaker to watch movies, but for this review, I did pair it to my iPad. I streamed a Netflix documentary, I then streamed a movie off my Plex server, I did a YouTube Video, an Amazon video - and in all cases I experienced NO audio lag. The sound seemed to sync seamlessly - unlike some other bluetooth speakers I've used in the past. Maybe that has to do with more current Bluetooth technology on my devices I don't understand, but my guess is if you're looking for a good speaker to enhance your movie watching experience, this is it. If there's any lag - I'm not seeing it at all with my devices. PROS • Loud • Clear concert sound • Fully adjustable levels with the app • Multiple speakers • You can connect multiple speakers • Amazing performance with an amazing price CONS • The top surface where you adjust volume and bluetooth pairing is a soft matte material, susceptible to fingerprints. I'm too new with the unit to state whether that's a real "con", but there ya go… • Wish it came with a USB-C cable for charging, but that's probably being picky. Most of us already have a drawer full of cables already with a spare cable. • I should have bought a couple more for around the house! lol ... show more

  • No noticeable latency via the AUX in!
I searched for a small bluetooth speaker that had no discernible latency when connected via cable to the AUX input. This is the one. I wanted to use it with my DJ controller, and it's impossible to beat match when there's a noticeable delay from the device to the speaker. I haven't done any tests to see if there's a delay of a few milliseconds, but I don't need to. This speaker does the job I wanted it to. ... show more

  • Good sound just not on high volume.
This speaker has good sound just not on high volume. If you really want to crank up music, especially outside this probably is going to disappoint. Good up to medium volume. Battery life is excellent. Have used this speaker every day for over 3 years.
