  • It's a cheap plastic tablet but it works
Let's be clear. This is not a high-end Android tablet. In fact, it's about as cheap as they come. Even the screen is plastic. But it works OK for what it is. There is a User Manual (7 pages) for it on the Apps screen. The specs are shown in the 1st photo. It runs Android 12 and has 32 GB of built-in storage. The item headline is incorrect where it says "32GB ROM". It is not ROM (aka read-only memory), it is storage. The ROM is listed in the settings and the specs as "2 GB + 2.0 GB". I'm assuming this means 2 GB built into a ROM chip plus 2.0 GB allocated from your 32 GB of storage. You can go into your Settings and increase this to "2 GB + 6.0 GB" (requires a reboot). The WiFi works fine (although it's only 2.4 Ghz). The Bluetooth works fine. I was able to send files/screenshots from the tablet to my laptop for writing this review. Like others have said, the screen is slow sometimes to respond to screen presses. I would describe it as "finicky". I got this tablet to use in my SUV as a cheap screen to display gauges via a Bluetooth connection to my OBD device. It should work perfectly for that. ... show more

  • Works well as a smart home hub, or media device.
Works well with the Home Assistant App as a smart home controller. I was hoping to use it with Fully Kiosk browser, but the Kiosk features don't work with Android "Go", which is what this device has. It also works well with YouTube and I downloaded "Max" which also worked, but the sound is terrible. You will want to pair bluetooth headphones or speakers with this instead of using the one built in tiny speaker for Movies or music. I also have to use a rubber stylus near the edge of the screen, because finger taps are misaligned near the edges. For instance, selecting the different tabs across the top of the "Max" app is impossible. The cameras are just acceptable for Duo calls, which I tested by calling my Home Display. Downloading the "Reolink" app allowed me to use this as a security camera screen, which worked well at the lower bit rates. Battery life seems good, with over 40 percent battery after testing for 5 hours with the screen on. Build quality is solid, with an interesting back cover and zero flex. There is a sharpish edge to the front bezel which takes away from the otherwise smooth feel. The screen is bright and clear, with good viewing angles. Android Go, and the apps I've installed take up about 7.5 gigs, leaving plenty of the 32 gigs available. App switching is very fast with loaded apps, while new loads and reloads do take a while. ... show more

  • Old technology
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly - The Good - Intuitive and standard Android interface. Standard USB-C charging port. Cable included, but you can use any at hand. Front and rear cameras are nothing special, but adequate for a low-end tablet. Headphone jack! Those are hard to come by these days. Micro-SSD/TF slot for additional storage. The Bad - Speakers have plenty of volume for a small tablet, but very "tinny" sounding. Back of the case has a nice faux carbon fiber look - but obviously is not. Very slow to boot up - even slower than my Kindle Fire which I thought was a dinosaur. Only a couple of apps I plan to use this for, and they run adequately once booted. The Ugly - Battery life is expected to be very short, based on usage just to get this setup initially. Dropped 10% in 10 minutes of setup and download/install 2 apps. And most importantly - this device is locked into Android 12, which is 2 major releases out of date. I would think a quad-core processor would update to at least 13, if not the current 14. Alas, this thing will not load a patch newer than April 2021 (over 3 years). That makes it a security risk, in my mind. I would NOT use a system this old to access financial accounts, any other sensitive sites, or store sensitive data. Will not let it save any passwords either. Luckily, most of the time I use this it will be connected to my smart telescope, rather than the internet. Bottom line - adequately function if you're on a budget, but very limited. If you need security and high performance, look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Slower than claimed, painfully out of date
This device is supposed to have a quad core 1.5GHz processor, but it’s really 1.3GHz. That doesn’t sound like much, but I have a different 7” tablet with vital 1.5GHz processors, and it performs better than this does. How bad is this? Well, it took almost three hours to download and install security updates after the first boot of this tablet, so that’s pretty slow. Web browsing is laggy and uncomfortable. Simple word games are hard to play because the device is unresponsive, and misses about a third of my taps and drags. I found disappointment everywhere I looked with this. While Android 12 is technically still supported, it is the oldest version of Android that is. The security updates that are actually available for this device are three years out of date. The screen seems to think my touches are abut a quarter inch lower than they really are, which makes it difficult to control things with any reliability. While typing in web addresses in Chrome, I can get about 2 words in before the device freaks out and takes me to the Home Screen. Streaming from major services seems to work, but the device is so unstable outside of the streaming apps and generally slow, it’s really hard to get to a point where you can just watch a video. With the volume turned all the way down and muted, this tablet STILL insisted on making noises that I couldn’t associate with any actions I was taking. While this tablet is affordable, I find it to be unfit for really any purpose. This feels pretty good in my hands; it seems more solidly built than my other 7” tablet. I was hoping it would be at least usable for SOMETHING. ... show more
