    • Plastic Rails, thin string, but door is durable
Out of 4 automatic chicken doors that I have tried only 2 have actually worked or lasted. This chicken door is one of them. First, let's discuss the good traits: 1. the aluminum door is sturdy and thicker than many on the market. 2. keeps my chickens safe from predators. 3. The door raises up and down slowly 4. The battery compartment is on the bottom of the door controller and not in the back. This allows me to change the batteries without having to remove the door. Now for what needs to improve: 1. The string that connects the door is extremely thin and it has lasted for the past 2 months but plan on replacing or upgrading the string if you decide to purchase. 2. The rails that the door slide into are plastic (I would have preferred aluminum for strength and longevity especially this door is outside 24 hours a day). I still check on my chickens daily but this door let's them get out early in the morning to roam and search for food. ... show more

Took a chance ordering a door I couldn’t see any reviews for… let me tell you, it was worth it. It goes slow enough that none of my chickens are getting smushed, keeps the time right, and the batteries are lasting so far. I would highly recommend this door!

This chicken door makes chicken care much easier. We're not all morning people, ok. This door was easy to mount, and I put the controller under an eve, so I didn't have to be too concerned about the weather proofing. I also ran an electrical circuit nearby so I don't have to count on batteries. So far, the chickens are happy, and so am I. ... show more

Finally don’t have to worry about putting my girls up at night. This has a power plug as well as a battery pack so you can choose which suits your needs. The door timer has worked so far and I’ve had no issues.
