  • Easy to use, professional dies, but needs a base to set it on for usage.
Model: Standard US 8AWG to 4/0AWG
Good heavy carry case, powerful hydraulic pump. Dies are black oxide coated, cut squarely and fit together well, much better than the cheap plated ones. Dies have stamped sizes on them, a plus. Comes with extra O ring set for rebuild, if it comes down to that years down the road. Quick release 1/4 turn knob on side with a spring aided piston return. Smooth operation overall. Only gripe is that it is heavy, which is good and was expected, but it could use either some sort of base or should have legs tacked onto the cylinder to keep in place on the bench or ground while in use. It tries roll when in use. Otherwise, a third hand is needed to hold it all while pumping up the piston and holding the crimped lug in place (this is where the 3rd hand is needed). Going to fabricate a wood or PVC base for mine. Used it several time with battery cable lugs and wire rope crimps, perfect results. DO NOT over-tighten valve knob, a light snug is all it takes. Otherwise it will start leaking past the valve and you’ll be disappointed with bad performance. Then it’s your fault. I’m a prior tool & die maker with years of experience. ... show more

  • Strong clamping power!
Model: 10AWG~250MCM Crimping Tool
Hands down best crimping tool that I have ever owned, and I've owned quite a few different crimpers in my lifetime. These perform a very nice uniform crimp all the way around perfectly every time. Surprisingly easy hydraulic handle action with virtually no pressure resistance. Makes the job easier and faster to perform. Nice product and worth the purchase. ... show more

  • Very effective. Consistent results. But takes A LOT of strength. Ergonomics go by the wayside.
Model: Crimping Tool
Firstly... Regardless of what reviews say, the end point is that these crimpers DO THE JOB. The crimps - WITH EFFORT - are solid and dutifully perform the task. HOWEVER... There are some things to be aware of. (Based on my own experiences with the tool. I am making a ground bus for my house and my network/server equipment.) (NOTE: See included photos for visual emphasis.) 1.) The first crimp was neat...but questionable. I was crimping 6AWG stranded copper wire into a Panduit LCD6-10A-L compression lug. It is possible that I did not crimp it down hard enough. There was about 1/8" of slippage of the stranded copper in the connector afterward. But it did catch it and a hard pull would not extract the copper wire from the lug. My fix for this was to switch from the 6AWG die to the 8AWG die and compress the lug further. This may have been more compression than was desirable as it seemed to strain the copper walls of the lug entry point. But it certainly prevented the copper from slipping afterward. I did an 8AWG compression only on the entry of the barrel but left the other 2/3 of the barrel crimped at 6AWG. So I simply made sure to compress subsequent 6AWG connections until I couldn't compress the handle any further. This seemed to be sufficient for the remaining crimps that I did. Which leads me to my second point... 2.) ...For a PROPER, SECURE crimp, you REALLY have the compress the die until you just CAN NOT press it any further. This took way more force and exertion than I feel should have been necessary. I have issues with my arms and shoulders due to repetitious strain in the past so this is a point of bother. (My arms have been painful today as a result of yesterday's work.) In my opinion, this issue points directly to the die itself not being PERFECTLY machined for the exact dimensions for the gauge indicated. But they work so they'll do. It's not an everyday job thing for me so I'll be happy enough with this for the cost. 3.) They really could have made the "ON/OFF" wheel a bit more precise in it's actuation. You REALLY have to twist the knob quite firmly toward "OFF" to get a full seal on the pressure. But, again, the pressure remains constant enough to crimp. So I'll settle for this. 4.) I realize that a lot of people don't know the difference(s) between hand tools and cutters. Many reviewers tried to use these wire cutters for STEEL rope. These are absolutely NOT meant for that. They're made to cut softer metals such as copper and aluminum. (Even then I wouldn't try to cut SOLID copper in most gauges.) I personally feel that these cutters are not really a value add to this kit and I wouldn't have missed them at all as I have plenty of cutters of various grades anyway. But maybe they ought to consider including cutters that WILL cut the steel rope since many are buying these crimpers for that purpose? Oh... Also... I was expecting a blue handle - as shown. Not a green one. ;) Overall... The price is definitely right for these and they're still far cleaner a crimp than using non-hydraulic crimpers. I'm not mad at'em. ;) ... show more

  • Awesome kit
Model: Crimping Tool
It’s got every size most people are going to need, and damn does it crimp! A lot of people said crimping was kind of a challenge, I think they need more protein in their diets. I weigh 190 lbs, crimping was absolutely no challenge in any way to me, and they’re simple to use. The sheers are awesome too. I have an $80 pair of knipex sheers that don’t cut through 0 gauge wire the way these ones do. GREAT product for the money by a country mile. ... show more

  • Made about 8 good crimps before breaking
Model: Crimping Tool
Title. Made about 8 crimps before breaking and while making those crimps it was a pain in the a** to do so. Gotta have concrete or steel as leverage, I also used a cheater bar on the handle which is probably what broke it but it made it much easier to use. Would not recommend, spend another 50 bucks and get a brand that will last and be easier to use. ... show more
