These did not come with instructions so I had to download them. That really didn't bother me much. However, the instructions really need a few updates which ought to be easy since they are not included in the box. 1-Where it says a 3/16 hex key, use a 5mm hex key. Much better fit and it won't strip the inside of the head causing you to call Amp to send more screws. Guess how I know. Hat's off to AMP for sending the replacements in a good and friendly manner with a really short wait time on the phone. 2-Mention the idler linkages go in the front and motor linkages go to the rear. 3-While the instructions about which wires to tap is correct, it would be good to mention there are several wires of the same color in the vehicles harness and, unfortunately, you'll have to try each one until you find the correct one. Missing parts, defective parts, crappy instructions that had to be looked up online as none were provided in the shipment. Amazon facilitated a replacement; and with all the correct parts and pieces things went smoother. Give the module some grace when you first connect it! It takes a minute for it to find its bearings and then the steps work as they should. My passenger step would only deploy and retract half way at first. Took a snack break and returned and they worked as they should. Two suggestions: the break lines are mounted identical on my 4Runner, so it seemed half hearted to only have one break line adapted mounting bracket for the driver side and not the passenger side as well. Second; it wouldn’t take much to add a little extra wire to tap in directly at the door switch, instead of trying to guess which wire you actually need. Both Toyota and amps instructed colors were WAY off. Plug and play with an adapted plugin for the door switch would be perfect. ... show more

A little mug, snow, or ice and these things get stuck i. The down position. Sometimes they will go half way up but that’s all. The optional override switch only offers short term “ 30 mi hold” on the selected position. So you can not lock them in the up position if you know they will get covered in mud or ice. ... show more

These function great. Slide out when I open the door and stay out until I shut the door. Very sturdy. BUT extremely hard to install. Instructions were vague and skipped steps. My husband is very mechanically inclined and this had him pulling his hair out! There are no helpful videos online either. Took 2 days to install. ... show more

Holes in the frame extender blocks are not properly spaced, new ones had to be drilled and tapped into the frame. Countersink cap screws are made of VERY SOFT steel and the socket heads strip out easily. My vehicle is a 2015 4Runner and this kit is allegedly perfect for this model. The steps themselves are amazing, great quality, fit wonderfully and looks awesome. The kit had some trouble, there were a few things missing, bolt was defective and 1 board was damaged. AmpResearch did a great job though of getting all the correct parts to me quickly.
