I usually put it on every other day, sometimes daily when its super dry out. It's been a miracle. My legs are baby smooth after using this. I don't mind the smell but don't love it either, its not perfumy which is good. However, dogs and cats love it and will sometimes lick my skin if I wear shorts - only after I have just put it on, once it is absorbed, they don't seem to care. Results are not seen for four to six weeks after using nightly. I was told not to use it during the day due to skin sensitivity. There is a slight odor that dissipates quickly. I have keratosis pilaris and a mild case of Ichthyosis vulgaris. My skin is extremely parched and in certain places, textured. This lotion is a great way to get moisture back into my skin and prevent flaking and scaliness. I usually use it until my skin his hydrated and then switch to CeraVe SA lotion. The Amlactin is kind of tacky, makes the skin kind of not necessarily sticky (like honey or jelly) but definitely tacky, like touching the sticky part of a post-it note. Amlactin doesn’t have a pleasant smell. It’s not horrible, but it has a slightly ammonia scent. I avoid the smell (which does dissipate) by putting the lotion on, letting it absorb for a bit, then putting clothes on and going to bed, covering my body up so that my skin doesn’t touch skin and the smell is hidden. In the morning my skin is soft and vastly improved. Word of advice, DO NOT put this on skin that is damaged or freshly shaven, and take caution in the sun as it has ingredients that can make burning more severe. I’ve tried soooo many different lotions and moisturizers, and Amlactin and CereVe SA are the only ones that help. Definitely recommend these two lotions. ... show more

My bottle has a white nozzle which I haven't been able to get open. I'm basically pouring it out of the top. It rattles when I shake the nozzle. The sent is a bit off putting. According to my husband it's gross so I'm hoping that there's some kind of results that make me think it works so I'll put up with the smell... This is dermatologist recommended and so much cheaper than similar quality products. It works! The only complaint I have is a mild stickiness at first. I recommend applying this to clean, dry skin and waiting a bit if you are putting on tights or skinny jeans. For some reason I don’t feel as sticky after about 15 min, perhaps it’s sunk into the skin. If it did.
