Sometimes they are hard to get started. Screwing in without a harness is tough to get started, since you're holding on to one and trying to screw in the next one with your other hand. Other than that, they worked great for me.

In fact, if you forget and leave them in for a year or two, the tree will grab ahold and you won't be able to get them out. I use them to keep on me for emergency steps to screw in should I need to do so when getting out of a jam should I fall from my climber stand and be left hanging in my harness too low to climb up easily ... show more

Each one has a sticker on it which states, among other things: "never exceed the capacity of 300lbs. for this product". This seemed somehow different from the bulk packaging. My 220 lbs. has to negotiate this along with all the rest of the gear I take up the tree with all the weight on one step at a time. My issue is with the 5-10 minutes apiece it took to completely remove each and every bright red sticker, so every poacher in the state couldn't locate my camo tree stand from outer space.
