I needed coffee that's EBT eligible so I went with the Amazon brand. I'd love to believe this is sustainably sourced, fair trade coffee, but this is Amazon we're talking about, sooo.... Regardless, since my favorites San Francisco Bay and Mayorga are currently out of my price range and the local grocery stores aren't offering anything above mediocre, I'll keep buying this. It's dark, roasty, and the beans are very oily- which I understand to be good in coffee terms. With my French press the coffee is fairly low acidity without compromising the roasty taste. ***Update*** Added one additional star for Amazon customer service which, to my pleasant surprise, reached out to me to address my issue. Very happy to see proactive service especially from a huge company as Amazon. Overall this is a good value. The coffee is good and so is the price. However, as some other customers have noted, there are occasional foreign objects in the beans. I have found hard dark foreign object in my bag of coffee beans as well. Luckily I hand grind the coffee beans and was able to detect the object getting caught in the grinder and prevent any damage to the grinder--or worse, ingest the foreign substance. ... show more

This is a very good coffee and an exceptional value. I don't care for coffees which are too smooth. I want a bit of robust without bitterness. Thus one fits the bill without breaking the bank.

Flavor Name: Colombia, Medium Roast Size: 32 Ounce (Pack of 1)
For many years I brew 500ml of strong, pressed java every morning. Copper Moon Whole Bean Light Roast, Guatemalan Blend is far tastier with more flavor for the same 6 tbsp med/ fine I grind. Neither are 'bitter' to me, but the CM "Med Roast" is a 'dark roast' in flavors compared to the rather bland Amazon Columbian. I tried mixing the two and the CM coffee fought back adding some taste, but was was still limp - like weak coffee. Both are Medium, so I don't think it's the roast. The Columbian simply lacks the fuller body. It's weak to the point of needing 50% more coffee - then some would claim it was bitter, though. No idea if the beans are too old, roasted incorrectly or simply a low grade, but the amount of flavor is similar to a bottom rung Light Roast, much too delicate for a decent Columbian. Price? The Copper Moon is 1cent lower per oz. per 5lb bag. I don't care about a zip-lock on a bag. No way I'm opening a 5lbs bag of coffee beans every morning. Storing in sealed in quart, plastic containers (like they have at some take-out delis) I've never had a problem. A 5lb bag is about 74 cups of finished brew, roughly two and a half months of coffee. The last container tastes the same as the first, so yes I gave this insipid coffee five stars on the bag sealing - I guess - assuming they did something right. So, if you like you can spill coffee beans every morning, and when the bag falls over it'll really start your day with a bang. You will too - in 74 openings. That's a lot of fresh oxygen you'll be changing out daily too. Out with oxidized flavors, in with the fresh, corrosive O2. I'm glad it's almost gone. ... show more

May not be the best choice for the super automatic coffee/espresso machines since the beans are a bit oily. Flavor is good. Not my 1st choice but would by it again if necessary.

The coffee is great and just what we were looking for! The bags are impossible to open without destroying them. We bought three and thought the first was a fluke. I normally order Don Francisco Kona while bean coffee and it has been out of stock for awhile. I drink a lot of coffee and I'm very picky. I use a French press, so getting the right combo of ground coffee and water is key. I ordered Amazon's coffee after reading reviews, and it is delicious! I used the same amount of beans and boiling water. It has a nice smooth flavor and I'm switching my brand to this now.
