First issue for me or anyone with neuropathy. The Chain is very hard to grasp. Also, the instructions either written an employee of the company or translated from Chinese make no sense. Get an enlargement of the pictures and you will figure it out. Your grind needs to be espresso or Turkish coffee grind. Don’t start out with a ton of coffee. Also, 5 cups of coffee is about a demitasse cup, not an American mug. The spring on the filter has a little hook that goes over the edge of the glass pipe. Low price, but works perfect for coffee that brews at high temperatures. For coffee that extracts idealy at lower temperatures I recommend pour over makers. The vacuum process can only work at boiling. Also, a butane heater is much more convenient and efficient than the supplied alcohol burner. I use a water heating kettle to preheat the water thus making the process quicker. Otherwise, you must wait for your heater to get the water up to boiling temp. ... show more

I ordered this original for my father for Christmas and it broke after one day then I choose to order it again assuming human error for or breaking the second one arriving in box broken I’d look into other ones before getting this one

    • it takes a long time for water to boil and get to the coffee
I like syphon coffee and have been using the electric one for a few year. I order this one to see if it can replace the electric one. The answer is NO. I learned about this and boiled water before put in this. Still, it took forever to get the water back to boiling and starting to move to the upper container. Not recommend to use the alcohol burner unless you have a lot of time to wait. ... show more

For the price it can not be beat. The fit and quality is not quite as good as a Hario... but it produces just as good of a cup of coffee.
