    • The center hole cannot be tapped for M5 screw
Size: 8PC 1000mm Style: 2020T
It is common on 3d printers to have the ends tapped for an M5 screw. These have the hole in the end as 5mm which means you will have to tap it for a 6mm screw instead. May not be important for your design, but for mine it was crucial and I was disappointed to learn that the hole in the end isn't the same as other common 2020 aluminum extrusions. ... show more

I picked these up to use with another set that I had in building a 3D printer enclosure. These rails are nice quality - perfectly straight, with smooth cuts on the ends and smooth slots that allow inserts to slide in easily. The rails themselves are exactly as advertised, and seem to be precisely the size advertised. I took off a star because the packaging and rails had a lot of loose shavings and slivers that I had to vacuum out of the slots and up off the floor after I opened the package. With pets and kids around, metals slivers are annoying and worrying. Recommended, just open the package on something you can vacuum easily. ... show more

The extrusions themselves are straight and uniform. Both dimensions measure as close to 20mm as my micrometer can reliably get. While wrapping each rail, and separating each wrapped rail in the paper for shipping was a really nice touch, there was a much larger amount of shavings from the cutting process than I was expecting. I don't expect them to be perfectly clean, but this was a bit much. Otherwise, a quick air blast was enough to clear out the chips, and I was ready to put them to use in my CNC project. ... show more

    • Excellent quality T-slot beams
These T-slot beams are high quality. You couldn't get better material from McMaster-Carr (for way more money!). The black anodizing is very well done - these beams are really black, except for the cut ends, which are cut square and polished with no sharp edges. I have used T-slot beams for a number of scientific apparatus, and I plan to use these for a 3D printer frame. This stuff is extremely versatile and looks professional. You can get a set of T-nuts, angle-brackets and screws for less than $10, and the possibilities are endless. You basically have an adult erector set. Pro tip: if the T-nuts don't remain where you place them, wrap them in a layer or two of polyamide tape, and they will rotate or slide into position with a little extra effort, but they will stay there! I use a ban saw or miter box to cut these beams down either square or at a 45-degree angle, depending on what I'm trying to build. Aluminum is very easy to cut cleanly, but to preserve the anodizing, I would recommend wrapping the beam with a piece of masking tape where you plan to cut. This also helps avoid damaging the coating when I slip (which ALWAYS happens). Overall, I would highly recommend these T-slot beams for your 3D printing or mad science needs. ... show more
