  • it's been years and I still use it.
I bought this as a spare to take to for gigs. I have one at home for when I practice. It's been through a lot and it's still holding strong. This was a great purchase w/ a great price. I now have to buy another one since my son plays.

  • Great sax stand!
I think that this is a great sax stand. It holds the saxophone well without any metal touching the brass finish. It is stable and sturdy. It is well built and looks good. There might be more “top of the line” stands, but this one is working well for me. The price was good and the quality is great. My saxophone has a place to safely rest instead of just resting it agains the back of the couch in my practice room. This is a good item, you will not be disappointed. It does what it is supposed to do, without costing a lot of money. ... show more

  • Needs Work
The media could not be loaded. This seems to be a low quality copy of a stand by a popular brand. It needs some tweaks to have good functionality. It will work as a portable stand, but a rigid non folding stand would be much better for daily use. The product photo should have been warning enough, as it shows the saxophone inserted into the stand backwards. Attempting to insert the instrument into the stand in such a manner will damage the rods, valves, and keys over time. It's also very unstable. The top U shaped support should grip the bell. The quality of the metal is not very good, it's soft and bends easily by hand. The stand was deformed in several places due to this. The powder coat is chipped in many places as well, and one spot on mine was painted over with some yellow paint to hide the damage. You can easily bend it into place with some pliers, to make the locking mechanisms work better. The joints have a lot of play around the spring pins, so the bolts need to be tightened to stabilize the stand, else it will be too loose and wobbly. The thumb screw for the lower rest doesn't work at all, and an Allen key is required to get it to tighten up. Adding a split washer and normal washer under the pan head would allow it to work properly. The upper bell rest needs to be adjusted to hold the horn properly. You could bend it, but the metal brackets will warp if you are not careful (though you can always bend them back with pliers or a vise). If you only use it with one horn, that wont be a big issue after the initial adjustment. The foam padding is poorly cut to fit, and has some jagged spots. It is functional, but could be thicker. Padding near the bell rest does not protect the lip of the bell too well, where metal on metal contact is possible (at the weld, where the 2 pieces of padding meet at the joint). You could file down the metal there, or wrap some tape around it. After looking at some more, it seems the lower adjustable rest was assembled upside-down on mine. Flipping it over helps it stay in place, but it still does not tighten easily. At least with the rest assembled in the proper direction, the stand can function. I have a Yamaha YAS-280. The bell is a bit slanted, as is common on most modern saxophones. Thus the upper rest needs to be bent a bit. Also, the lower rest is angled inward too sharply, which hits the lower valve guards, or valves in almost every position. I have decided to order a non-folding stand for every day use. ... show more

  • Compact and sturdy
The media could not be loaded. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I liked the price and the fact that it appeared to be super portable. I was expecting lesser build quality I was pleasantly try surprised. It is solid enough for my purposes. Accommodates both my tenor and alto. But my favorite thing about this stand is that it breaks down so small. No loose pieces. I cold it up and use a carabiner to attach it to my back pack that I use to haul my other gear Now if I was playing a pro horn I would prob take a taller sturdier stand. This one sits low and the overall height isn’t adjustable. I have a very old intermediate Yamaha. So I’m not too worried about a scuff here or there. Also if you aren’t paying attention to the bottom foam pad to make sure it’s in position your horn will make contact with the frame. Overall I’m stoked about its portability and overall build for my purposes. ... show more

  • Pretty Good
I use these stands for my Tenor and Alto saxophones, without the security straps had to manipulate the fit for tenor opening up a bit, snug fit for my alto, and both stand pretty good for my horns. Cant beat it for the price, easy to store as they fold away pretty neatly.

  • Does NOT hold a tenor sax well
It says it holds a tenor but it is not very steady & my daughter's sax fell off of it & it bent the keys & made a dent in it so now it has to be sent away for repairs

  • Great sax stand for the price.
I am not sure why I waited so long to get a stand for my Alto Sax. Great quality for less than $20. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a stand for their Alto Sax and does not want to spend a ton of money on it. This will look equally great on stage and in the music room. If you are looking for a sax stand but would rather spend your $$ on other things, look no further. ... show more
