  • Great way to simplify setup
style: Bluetooth Ultimate Pattern: Receiver
First, I would like to address buying a used product from Amazon. I purchased the Alto Ultimate with the condition described as: "Used - Very Good. Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged." I received a large cardboard box with a small clear plastic baggie containing the Alto. Nothing else except for paper padding. No charging cord, no instructions. By the time I purchased a charge cord I saved a whopping $4 USD. Whoopie! Now on to the product review.... I am an audio professional, with over 40 years of TV broadcast and sound reinforcement experience. I will not bore you with response and distortion specs. This is not a straight wire. It does color the audio. If the intended use involves an area with 500 people, each with a cell phone, then you had better have a backup plan. So what can it do? Well if a performer wants to play tracks from a laptop controlled by the drummer, then that can be set up wirelessly in about a minute. How about a church "Kid-Fest" with a bouncy castle and other activities? You want sound from speakers that cover the area but don't want a bunch of XLR cables that have to be taped down. Specifically, a non-critical activity where you can use very good audio with a bit of latency. I really like having a couple of these in my tool box for a quicker setup and strike. My wish list: Wish there was a clipping LED to make setup even easier. And a way to turn off that ridiculous signal loss beep. In summary, the sound is very good and works great in many situations. Just have an XLR cable ready just in case. ... show more

  • This thing is awesome.

Ordered the day before a backyard party. Got it a few hours before the party started. Plugged it in for a couple hours and to my surprise the light was green and battery at 100%. Plugged it in to my Yamaha DBR12 PA speaker, with a second cable to my other PA speaker. Pressed that pair button and connected to my 9th gen iPad immediately. So simple. Worked seamlessly and sounded great. Very impressed. Didn’t even look at the instruction last other the and to see what the charging light indicators meant so I could know when it was ready to go. I can think of a bunch of other uses for this, like easily connecting my iPhone to my audio recording interface to capture samples. Very cool device. ... show more

  • Bluetooth at the expense of sound quality
style: Bluetooth Ultimate Pattern: Receiver
The bluetooth connectivity is very easy on multiple devices and I was able to walk the 100' line of site with no issue, however audio quality is compromised. Low frequencies are greatly reduced and the high frequecies have a compressed character. EQing helps but is not the same. Overall sound quality is acceptable for an outdoor event but is nowhere near the quality of wired. The other issue is a loud high pitch beep is played if you lose bluetooth or as you are syncing. Isn't the loss of audio enough of a hint that you've lost bluetooth? Does there really have to be a high pitch annoying beep over your PA? This is an excellent device for the convenience of not being tied to a wire but audiophiles will be dissappointed. ... show more

  • Clarity running through Yamaha 12" Pro speakers!
style: Bluetooth Ultimate Pattern: Receiver
Wow, I've only tried it once so far and for a kids event where I just needed 1 speaker and wanted to run the music through my Ipad. This was super easy to setup and worked instantly. I was honestly more impressed on how good the sound was. Spend the extra money and get the Stereo one because you never know if you'll want to connect 2 speakers! I put a 2nd one on my list so I can have one fully charged if this one runs out before an event is over. I'll be using this for my garage to run music from an Ipad and to stream for a family backyard party in June so I'll post an update then but so far so good! ... show more

  • Worked as stated.

Liked it's range. Didn't care for it's range. Was working a dinner function. Walk across the hall worked fine. Soon as I turned a corner it lost connection. Didn't realize the size of the hall. Easy to reconnect. It worked well as stated and for over 5 hours.

  • Can’t say enough good things…
style: Bluetooth Ultimate Pattern: Receiver
I have been a DJ for over 25 years. When I do a wedding, I often set up two separate sound systems, one for the ceremony and one for the reception. The ceremony system is usually a small mixing board connected to a device to play the background music, while the guests are arriving, and the ceremony music, while the wedding party is walking down the aisle. This device replaces virtually everything except for the speakers. It is super simple to install. You simply plug it into the XLR jack on the back of your speaker. Syncing it to my iPhone was as simple as connecting a Bluetooth device. I had music playing in less than 30 seconds. I am literally gushing over this item. It can be run with a single speaker with both left and right signals going through one channel, or you can run the XLR cable off the back to a second speaker, and have independent left and right channels. This will make my set up and tear down so much faster without sacrificing sound quality. I have yet to run the battery down. If you have a Bluetooth compatible laptop, you can also run sound through your DJ software to the device as well. Then you could use it as a wireless mixer. You simply control the volume off of your device or set it to an appropriate level on the speaker. I wish this device existed 20 years ago. ... show more
