Over the last year, I've purchased 6 or 7 portable speakers from Altec Lansing, for myself and as presents. They've all performed wonderfully and I haven't encountered any issues. I've gotten them in the full range of sizes from the small hand held speakers to this larger sized one. They're well designed and manufactured with quality in mind. This speaker is made with the same high quality. The functionality is what makes it totally worth $130. It easily pairs to my phone and I love that I don't have to be right on top of it for it to change songs or volume. It's got 3 USB ports and 1 aux port that are covered by a waterproof lid, as well as a handy waterproof compartment on the back to protect your phone. The sound is clear with nice bass. It's loud enough that I can use it in my backyard while gardening and still be able to hear it, even when I go around the side of the house. One of the best features this speaker has is that you can use it as a charging station. The ability to do that is huge since playing music on my phone seems to suck the battery quickly. The speaker has really good battery life, but you only get 20 hours out of it, if you're running it at 50% volume and no one is using it as a charging station. If I'm running it at full volume and have 1 phone charging it'll last 10-12 hours, which is still great. It's a very lightweight unit that you can take everywhere and the construction is solid. This is a fantastic speaker. It put out a lot of bass in the music. I had it set up on a table, and it was literally booming and rattling the table. And that wasn't even at full power. This offers excellent sound quality and loudness. This speaker is of the same high quality as the others. The utility is what makes it well worth the $130 price tag. It effortlessly connects to my phone, and I appreciate that I don't have to be right on top of it to adjust tunes or level. It has three USB connections and one aux connector protected by a waterproof top, as well as a convenient waterproof pocket on the rear to keep your phone safe. Good looking speaker with rubberized exterior and good lids for connection ports. That's where the positive ends! This thing will not hold any charge! The second you unplug it, it is dead. Not even a delay! As soon as the plug exits the outlet this unit is completely dead. I bought it to use on my boat, so it is useless to me. Additionally, it reminds me of the stereo in my old 67 Mustang, when I was in high school in the 80"s. It has a constant buzz when music is playing . Very obvious between songs. That is a sign of crappy electronics! I thought after all these years Altec had caught up, but they are still crap! If you want a good speaker, spend the money on a real brand!. I have a bad habit of immediately throwing away the packaging, otherwise I would have returned it. I took it out, plugged it in and it powered up, so I threw away the packaging while I left it to charge. Who knew a brand new item would not charge! ... show more

I'd honestly never really was aware of the brand Alltec before a few months ago but I've been more and more impressed with their products the more I give them a chance. I didn't even realize that an older surround sound system in my house, maybe decades old, is an Alltec, too, and is still holding up pretty well for its age. These newer models still hold the same competency but are definitely upgraded in all the right ways. This model is less flashy than other Bluetooth speakers as it is made for more outdoor use, like barbecuing and working on your yard, and travel, like road trips and camping. It's built rock solid, no fear of this falling apart or getting damaged from occasional bumps and drops. The battery life is very impressive and allows for us to play music for hours and hours on end while working inside or outside. The waterproof function lets us feel a lot safer keeping this nearby when working with hoses or by a pool, though you don't want to pour water or any sort of liquids directly on it. Loud speaker, charging ports, clear sound and built to last. Can't get much better than that and I would expect no less from Altec. ... show more

Last one This speaker is awesome!! The sound is amazing as well as the bass. It is crystal clear with no muffling or anything. It has an amazing battery life at around 10 - 20 hours depending on the usage. I love the fact that I can charge my phone too. There is waterproof compartments all over it and the speaker itself is waterproof so no worries there. I have nothing bad to say, overall an amazing speaker and worth the money. Good to great battery life, full sound, pairing available, and charging ability. Unfortunately, the unit died just beyond the year warranty. Compare that to an OONTZ that I purchased that is going on 4 years plus, and has been abused far harder, where these speakers have primarily been used either inside or out on a shaded patio away from sun and rain. Also, if you purchase a pair of them like I did, be aware that there is a definite volume variation at the lower end. The speaker that died had a great ultra low setting, as tonstill enjoy music and not mess with the neighbors. The one that has survived is noticeably louder...too loud..., and when the volume is reduced the next level it's mute. Very frustrating. I've been using Altec Lansing products for going on 25 years, and I won't be replacing the remaining speaker when it fails, especially for the price. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Nice sturdy waterproof speaker, sound is good has a nice bass i wish it could be a little louder but its ok. I added some tv led lights and it looks good for me.
