Great snowshoes at a great price! Hiked all the way up the James Hancock run at Jiminy. My footing was safe and secure the whole time up and down the mountain. I did check the straps a few times and they had loosened but I just retightened and on I went. Highly recommend.

I really loved the ease of putting these snowshoes on! Being a novice show-shoer, I had no idea what to expect. But the shoes are very self explanatory. The backstraps hold the shoes in place nicely! I noticed that others in my hiking group had some difficulty with their back straps coming undone- but not me!! Everything stayed in place exactly as designed. My only source of challenge was adjusting/locking in to place the hiking poles that come with these shoes. It was difficult to get the poles locked. I eventually figured it out but it took some time. These worked well in deep powder and on a more packed trail, with good traction, solid webbing and a sturdy frame. Overall, the 17” is a good buy for kids aged 6-10. The poles were well enough, but you have to be really careful not to overextend them and lock them down tight, which is a bit challenging. My kid is using size 2 boots. My niece used size 4 boots. The size 2 worked well, but the 4 had some trouble with the toe pivoting (her toe kept getting caught under the webbing deck, which isn’t ideal). So, I wouldn’t recommend these for kids in bigger boots. ... show more

Unfortunately I was duped on these. They say "Alps" brand which is a far cry from "Alps Mountaineering". During the first use on a light 3 mi snowshoe hike, they broke beyond repair. Of course they were a Christmas present for my daughter so my return window is also gone.
