Ordered this for my Jeep JLUR for a weekend trip to Moab where we planned to take the roof off for a few days of wheeling. I was a little hesitant at first about how the product would hold up and that we were expected to have clear skies so we'd be spending a few days in the sun. Product was easy enough to install and held up well at highway speeds. Night and day difference having these installed made it feel like you were in the shade noticeably keeping the car (and more importantly us) cooler throughout the day. I bought this for my ‘07 Wrangler. I like the design, and really like the use of the bungees. Great product for the price. I live in South Florida, so have loved having this to knock down the UV’s a bit. I will be a life long customer as long as we own jeeps.

These are great, Fit nicely and act a bit like insulation in winter. Keeps the sun from beating down on you during the summer. Worked great on a 800 mile road trip last summer. No complaints at all.

    • Few minor issues but overall a solid product

Had this on the Wrangler for a few months now and in-use I have to say I like it. Adds a nice “safari” vehicle look if that makes sense, really cuts down the feeling of baking in the sun while still letting in plenty of airflow. Also reduces the sun exposure which is really nice since I hate hats and sunscreen. If there was any significant decrease in airflow with it installed I didn’t notice. I haven’t had it on with the hard top off yet but there was no significant noise associated with the shade with the Freedom Tops off (I have a 2-door JKRHR). Pros: 1/ Build quality 2/ Fit and finish 3/ Looks – plenty of color options 4/ Ease of install Cons: 1/ Messing with the front bungies each time I take the Freedom Tops on and off No matter what I’ve tried, in order to properly operate the forward Freedom Top latches and center handle, I have to undue the bungies on the shade and redo them after the tops are off. Reverse is true during top reinstall. It’s a bit of a pain and adds a few minutes to the top removal and install process. It’s not the end of the world, but I’d prefer something I can install and just leave it alone (though that won’t stop me from using this). 2/ Additional difficulty reaching the rear Freedom Top release/locking handles Some reviews say you can’t reach them without taking the shade off. I can though it is a little more difficult since you need to snake your hand behind the shade. Still, I don’t think it adds more than a few seconds to the process of top removal and installation for me. 3/ Instructions had me put two bungies through the holes for the hard top screw knobs in the sound bar – that doesn’t work You certainly can do that but good luck then getting the screw knobs back in. I ended up getting a longer pair of bungies (bought from the local hardware store) and just putting them around the sound bar instead (didn’t need to drop the sound bar – you can thread the non-ball end of the bungies between the bar and the hard top, or if you’re soft top is on it’s non-issue entirely. They really need to include a longer pair of bungies and update the instructions. A bit annoying to go out and have to buy more myself instead of having everything I needed in the box. Overall I think it’s a good product and works well. If you buy do so knowing you’ll need to get a few extra bungies yourself and will need to mess with it a bit during Freedom Panel R&R – it’s not install it and forget it – but otherwise it’ll work as advertised. ... show more

    • Abducted From UFO (Unbearable Frying Object) By Alien

I am completely and hopelessly in love with my Alien Sunshade. I adore my Jeep top-down but living in Florida, that means many months are off limits due to intensely searing heat in the Sunshine State. It hit a bit early this year. When we topped 92 and I was stuck in traffic, I knew dreaded top-up time had arrived and I began to sink into a slight depression at the prospect of enclosed travelling. Thank all the powers of automotive deities that I discovered Alien! It is AMAZING and unbelievably easy to install. You can even leave it on when you put the top up. Best of all…it WORKS! Really, really well! As I crossed a bridge, I actually felt the cool air coming off the river instead of the blazing sun on my head. Sitting in traffic, the shade not only protects from the sun but also holds the AC in better. I swear it makes the stereo louder too. I think the mesh "bounces" the sound back in from the speaker bar or it could be that the lack of imminent heatstroke enhances my hearing. Honestly, I love this product so much, if you give me enough time I'll probably discover that my Alien Sunshade makes me look younger and drive better too! :) I may rename my Jeep, Roswell, so that my Alien feels right at home! If you are hesitant to purchase this...don’t be. If you ever feel uncomfortable in the sun with the top down...this is the cure. To enjoy your Jeep all summer, there are only two things you need: the key and your Alien Sunshade. I was NOT compensated in any way to endorse this product I just fricking love it and want everyone to know how great it is. I also want to address the comments that Alien is a “rip-off” of another brand. Bullpoo. If that line of thinking is correct then anyone driving a car that is not a Ford or has a phone not made by Bell is using a rip-off. Come on! This is America and we compete. That is what makes us strong. Competition keeps companies striving to go farther and do better. This is exactly what Alien did; better price, better warranty, incredible product and a much cooler logo! Plus, I was truly impressed with their excellent personal customer service.
