we put this in our birdfeeder to replace one we bought last year that quit. this one shoots water very high, too high really. I you pop out the pump on the bottom there is a hi/lo switch you can turn it down. they don't tell you that in the instructions thought I would mention it here. ALSO the pump has a long wire wrapped around it, so if you need to have the solar panel separate and pointed to the sun, you can do that and keep the pump in your bird feeder. kinda handy. good little fountain. does NOT have led lights like some of them do, but we don't really care ... show more

I've used several solar fountains over the years. This one isn't the best, but it has some good options. 1. Spurts water unless sun quite bright. I've never seen this before, but the water almost always is shooting in spurts... in 0n-off-On-off fashion. I honestly don't mind it... it's just unexpected. 2. Inset wall guards. These are better than any others that I've owned. I tend to put these fountains in planters instead of a bird bath... it holds more water. The problem generally is that the water is shot too far to the side and out of the container unless it's in the immediate center. I do wish you could adjust the guards to go out just a tad further. Nevertheless, it's better in design than others I've had in the past. 3. No stored battery... when sun is gone, the fountain stops. Again, not a big deal, but I've had some that turned on lights and kept working for a few hours after the sun went down. This one doesn't. So if it starts to rain, even in the middle of the day, it'll likely stop working. ... show more

    • Worked great but then barely works after a few months

After a few month water barely comes out. I cleaned filter where items may get stuck and clog it and the tubing for water but still not much power. It use to work great. Fountain is in full sun for 6hrs and there is always water so I don't think it's over heated

I usually buy one of these every summer. This is pretty much no different but this one still runs even if the sun is behind the clouds. Past ones I've had would stop working all together if there's no sun. So that's a bonus. Just frequently check to make sure there's no debris stuck in the pump. The attachments included can be a little too strong for a bird bath and causes too much water loss. So I avoid them. ... show more

1) The instructions. Badly written & lacking crucial info. 2) If you open the pump, this doohickey pops out. Do you see it in their diagram? No. 3) I figured out on my own where & how it installs. It's the Hi or Lo switch. 4) If the bird bath, for example, is not in a sunny spot, you can unwind the cord from underneath the solar panel and 5) separate the pump from the solar panel in order to mount the panel in a sunnier spot, but now deal with a cord. The solar panel is 3' from my full spectrum growing light. I tried different levels of water, different heights of pump placement and raising the solar panel all the way up to the aforementioned light. All the pump did was just gurgle or spurt. Fountain did at one point spray as depicted in their diagrams using one of the many choices of fountain heads, but I can't get it to repeat. This feature of separating the solar panel from the pump, explains why there are suction cups under the pump (photo 4). 6) The solar panel did not respond one bit to my small growing bulb. I am waiting for a sunny day if we ever get one before my return window closes (my heart goes out to the wild forest fires in Canada) to test if this fountain can live up to it's claims. This is my second time purchasing a fountain for my bird bath and this one works so well! It takes very little sun for it to work and it is a lot quieter than other fountains I have tried. It looks amazing in a bird bath, pond, any calm body of water. It really spruces up the yard and adds a fancy romantic atmosphere. Highly recommend! ... show more

This fountain does not perform the way it does in the product videos, and requires full sun to even work at all. And when in even partial sun, makes loud mechanical grunting noises as it tries to work. Also, the solar panel being in the middle causes more water to splash out of the bowl, AND because the sprayed water is hitting the panel, it doesn’t produce the nice water splashing sound. If you are shopping for a solar fountain, look for one that has a separate solar panel so you can place both the fountain and panel where you want. ... show more
