An agogo is a classic bell now used throughout the world but with origins in traditional Yoruba music and also in the samba baterias. The agogo may be the oldest samba instrument and was based on West African Yoruba single or double bells. The agogo has the highest pitch of any of the bateria instruments.

Easy to play and hold.

  • Dull sounding
For one, you get a practically useless, flimsy plastic mallet, which does not make for a solid percussive sound. The bells look nice, but something about the alloy just doesn't cut through the sound of a drum circle with the traditional authority and depth of a more authentic African-made product.
