I'm an actual pro musician. I teach music for wind instruments and sometimes percussion to young students. This Guiro (Frog) makes a great sound for latin music and equally great sound for simple sound effects. The kids LOVE this thing and can't get enough of it. I love it too. Properly played, it sounds like the bullfrogs down at the pond on a summer evening in the South. Craftsmanship could be better if your purpose was to display art, but it's very good if your purpose is to make MUSIC. ... show more

I purchased this for my local big band because we needed a guiro for a latin song we are playing. Figured I might as well get something decorative while I was at it. Item is very cute, really does remind you of a bullfrog when you play it, but it will also work fine for our latin piece.
