Description

Sweet Bell Peppers - made for TALL GARDENS! The Sweet Bell Peppers Seed Pod Kit for TALL AeroGardens (EXTRA, ULTRA, Bounty & Bounty Elite models) comes with everything you'll need to grow these fresh peppers and we've carefully selected varieties proven to produce. These TALL vegetable plants require more growing space and best results are achieved when no more than two Seed Pods are planted in a TALL, 9 Pod garden; this Kit contains two (2) Seed Pods and seven (7) Plant Spacers so your pepper plants have ample room to grow and thrive without overcrowding. Highly productive, beautiful plants provide harvests for 7 months or more and the sweet fruits ripen to red right on the vine. SHU is the Scoville Heat Unit which is a measurement of capsaicin (the stuff that makes peppers hot!) and our sweet peppers rate 0 out of 100 on the scale.

  • Growing well
Size: 9-pod Style: Chili Pepper
I’ve been a Aerogarden customer for over two years now. I literally got a Harvest Elite with Best Buy points when I bought a new refrigerator and have been obsessed with hydroponics since. Then of course I had to get a second unit and then a cheaper knock off version as well as a bunch of mason jars for Kratky. It’s been a fun but sometimes stressful adventure. So I will say this, often the pods are duds, but if you document it Aerogarden has been really good about sending replacements (I contact them through Facebook messenger, Amazon is not going to help with this). I’ve been growing peppers outside for several years ago for my boyfriend, as I’m one of those unfortunate individuals who can’t handle really spicy food but it’s still fun to grow them. I even grew five super hot pepper plants hydroponically, but as well as the plants did I never got one stupid pepper, and then lost all but one plant in a hard freeze last year. This year has been stressful too with new pepper plants and that one survivor because we’ve had an extremely hot summer here in Texas that lasted well into the fall so of course, now I have a bunch of peppers growing and have been watching the weather for freezes, I figured once we are about to get hit, I’m just going to cut them down and overwinter them. And the peppers are all still green. I also had rats stealing leaves off my pepper plants until we started getting rain, so I guess they were getting some kind of moisture out of them so they grew really tall because I didn’t want to prune them down with those little leaf thieves coming every night. So long story short, I decided to try peppers hydroponically, even though I probably would have done better with a bounty, my units are the smaller Harvest units. It’s now been 66 days. The jalapeño took off, I was good about pruning it down, so that it would grow busier, but I wasn’t as good about that with the red fire or purple super hot. So the red fire is now kind of pulled over to the left of the light unit and then the purple super hot just grew out of nowhere before I even realized so I actually removed it and put it into one of my Kratky jars because there were a bunch of little flowers growing that I didn’t want to lose with a trim. My boyfriend tried one of the jalapeños last night, I have a picture of it next to one of our outside ones, it’s the lighter colored one, and he said it had much more flavor than the outside one. Looking forward to see what grows with the other two plants, right now I just have a little tiny purple pepper, which I guess will eventually turn red on the red fire. The purple super hot have a bunch of flowers, so I’m sure I will get peppers soon enough. I only used three out of nine of the pods and honestly I think that I might have a couple duds, but I will deal with that later. I’ve gotten to where I check for seeds before I waste my time. overall, I’m pleased with the purchase. Just make sure that you keep an eye on the water level because they are thirsty! ... show more

  • Great product!!!
Size: Tall Gardens Only Style: Sweet Bell Pepper
I ordered the bell pepper pods. It came with three pepper pods and ten spacers. I planted two pods in a six-pod Aerogarden Harvest, and they both germinated. They are currently about 12 inches tall with 7+ flowers on each plant. I had no issues with this product. It's top-notch. If you're having issues, please read my tips below. The problem might not lie in the product but how you're planting and growing. FYI: 1. If your pods do not germinate after 21 days, you can contact Aerogarden for a replacement. You'll need the numbers on the pod stickers, so keep them or write them down. I've done this for two salad green pods that didn't germinate. AG sent the replacement item within a week. 2. It's best to plant things like peppers and tomatoes together. Don't mix them with other things, like herbs, flowers, salad greens/romaine, etc. The peppers and tomatoes will hog all the water and light. 3. If you look in the pod and see mold, this is a normal part of the process. 4. When growing peppers or tomatoes, only plant two pods per six holes! If you do anything more than this, your plants might grow, but they won't get enough space, light, water, or nutrients to actually provide peppers or tomatoes. ... show more

  • So far so good
Size: 9-pod Style: Chili Pepper
Plants are about 12 inches tall at 40 days. All look healthy. Some buds developing. The Jalepeno were the fastest growing with very large leaves that need to be managed so they don't stunt the others' growth. Purples are smaller plants but attractive to look at. Will continue to update review as we get peppers and as far as longevity. They appear to self-prune, which is nice! I have the extended reservior so I just look for fallen leaves and make sure no large leaves are blocking plants. I thought highly of the lettuce pods until their quick end of life, so I'll withhold final judgement. Benefit of the doubt for now. If there's any question, this is 9 actual seed pods, 3 of each. No blanks Update: 67 days, there are two jalepenos of edible size and 3 more starting up. There are about 7 purple hots of medium size and about 6 red fires just starting. Vegetative growth has slowed almost to a halt - at first I was getting leaves as big as my hand from the jalepeno plants and now they don't even get half as big. I did prune when they were going wild since I'm growing 7 plants in a 7-pod AG, which is probably against the best practices but I wanted to see how they did. No pruning in last 20 days or so though ... show more

  • 9 Pod Mislabeled
Size: Tall Gardens Only Style: Sweet Bell Pepper
I ordered a 9 pod kit and it took 3 tries to complete my order. I received a 3 pod kit each time. I believe it is just a simple mislabel incident. The product is easy to use, but to this date the first 3 pods have not germinated. It has been 12 days and germination is usually between 8-14 days. We will see, as I really do hope these pods are not duds. Will update in the next few days as to status of plants. ... show more
