A must item no matter where you go. If you have bad day in an office, you can fix it with a few phone calls, paper towels (if you spill coffee) or a trip to the Doctor. This particular kit comes with a water tight bad, an automatic strobe (moisture and water activated) an emergency whistle, a reflective Emergency signal mirror, and the PLB-425 ResQLink View. The PLB-425 View is an improvement over the PLB-400. The View allows you to see (one way) msg of the progress of the signal and stages of the rescue. Everything seems very proper! Who knows if it will really work, but all the hope is on this thing, to work (that is the only reason for 1 star off). All items are appearing to be made very well. I definitely have mere confidence in this Personal Locator Beacon, because of how well everything else is made. Good job guys. Everything looks like it will definitely last 5 years. We got audited by the Coast Guard and they were extremely impressed by us having this product. Even they said it was the most advanced and best that could be bought as they compared it to the older model they carried.

I take heed what Dave Paulides recommends and carrying one of these when you go out into the woods is a good idea. Worth the money for a bit of piece of mind when I'm deep on a trail.

    • No Communication
Disappointed with the communications with this company. Unfortunately went overboard shortly after purchasing the ResQLink View. Once back on the boat, I noticed the buoyant device had turned my pocket inside out. Searched the area for a couple hours with no luck. Called the company to find out if the location was trackable even though the emergency switch had not been activated. After a few times trying to speak to someone, I was told the technical support guy was out to lunch and would call me back. He didn't. Their website suggests contacting marketing@acratex.com if the device was legitimately lost in a rescue that it is eligible for replacement. While difficult for me to prove my rescue and no emergency services agencies were involved, I would expect a reply. After a week, they haven't. ... show more
