  • Good quick resource
I did pretty well learning ableton through this. I did not get to the examples and still planned to do that. I took a zoom course, but this book is excellent and offers quick review to specific details. I was recording my ideas onto demo CDs pretty quickly. If you are thinking ableton, don't limit yourself. Go for the suite version as there is a lot more voices there. ... show more

  • A Must Have
As a music production student and overall fan of audio, I aspire to be DAW (digital audio workstation) fluid, but that's easier said than done. In my experience, Logic Pro X and Pro Tools are similar enough to where you can navigate in either DAW fairly easily if you're familiar with on or the other. However, Ableton is VERY different. If you want to feel like a production caveman, get Ableton and try to figure it out on your own without tutorials or guidance. It SUCKS! That being said, there are a number of resources at our disposal with tips on how to use Ableton, but I've gotta say that nothing beats a physical book with lots of pictures. The layout of the book makes it easy to find what topic you're looking for, and images of the different controls in Ableton help in explaining the different features. This book will be my go-to for Ableton related questions and troubleshooting in the foreseeable future. ... show more

  • Received E-book, but no access code for downloadable content
I received the book, but there is not an access code for the downloadable assignment content in the Kindle version. Writing Amazon at this instant.... Have yet to start the book, just disappointed there is no access code.

  • Nice Reference Manual
Full of helpful content..... not something I'd read cover to cover, but helpful to go to the index, or table of contents find the specific content I need and see if the narrative can walk me through how to do it. Beyond what you can find on the Internet (video clips), this is a decent reference tool to have. ... show more

  • Excellent book, very well written, and fun to work with... I just wish there was a little more...
Excellent book, especially for the beginners! I started using Ableton back in December 2019. After help from friends, and my nephew (@ItsArcaeus), I decided to really dive deeper into Ableton. I wanted to learn more and more, and ended up doing research and purchasing an Ableton Push 2. I bought this book to really learn some of the core basics and brush up on my arrangement skills. Most of my friends always user the arrangement view, mostly because of other software like Digital Performer, CuBase and Nuendo. So I was used to the arrangement view. When I purchased Ableton Suite, I was curious on how the Session View worked, and boy did this book help clear up some questions! My only complaint, I really wish the projects were longer. I was hoping the final project would be a full arrangement. Most of the lessons give you about 30-, 45-, or 60-minute sets. Which is OK, but I am still interested in learning full arrangement from start to finish! I would definitely recommend this book for anyone that is interested in learn the basics, learning both Arrangement and Session view, and anyone who wants to brush up on the basics! ... show more
