The idea of turning drawings into games is really cool and fun, the book comes with two codes for the app to unlock the full features of the app which is nice, and a pretty thorough tutorial on how to use this book, my only hang up was that I thought the pages were going to be a dry erase or wet erase board instead of paper which means once I'm done with the book the only way to make more games is by using regular paper which isn't too much of a problem as it does come with quite a few pages for the book. ... show more

My 7 and 8 yr old girls love this! Pixicade is a super cool platform that allows kids (and even adults) to design their own video games. Using the mobile app, you can draw your game levels and characters on paper and then bring them to life digitally by scanning them into the app. Its really easy to do! My daughters are very artsy and love drawing so to be able to bring those drawings into a video game is awesome for them! The app is user friendly and really does not need much adult help. The core feature of Pixicade is its ability to transform hand-drawn images into playable video game components. You use different colored markers to designate what objects do (e.g., green for ground, red for hazards), and the app automatically interprets these elements as part of a working game. Pixicade introduces children to fundamental concepts of game design and development in a fun, hands-on way. It blends artistic creativity with logic, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving, providing an educational experience. I have not yet set this up but it appears it will be easy to set up. It includes QR codes to scan in order to set it up. I am really looking forward to setting this up to see how it works. I have a 7 year old granddaughter and I am sure she will be able to teach me lots. If you are going to send this to someone as a gift be sure you note it that way. Mine was delivered without being in another box and the sticker stuck to the back of the package. I was able to get the sticker off to see all of the back. ... show more

This is definitely a new concept for me to it was interesting to watch my daughter make her hand-drawn game come to life. Granted, since she designed the difficulty level herself, she got bored with it quickly. So I guess there's that to consider. It's not much of a challenge if you know how to beat the game, right? My sons two favorite things are video games and art so this has been one of the best gifts in a long time. He can draw a game them play it through the app. You can edit in the app if they mess up to change colors, and make them playable. The games are very simple but its a good intro for younger kids into coding, etc. ... show more
